my 2 12"s arent exactly small in fact its a pretty big box, but the way it fits i can have the subs facing upwards and still have plenty of room for anytthing i need to transport had no problem with a weeks worth of groceries, and for long trips the box comes out rather easily. even if my trunk was all sub i would still have the back seat for stuff as ppl rarely fit back there, if i had to move large amounts of stuff often then i would be driving my ranger instead. for me the trunk space sacrifice is outweighed by the sound i get to experience

(and i know that even with 2 12"s your prolly refering primarily to other ppls setups

I was just thinking about day to day tasks with something like Ted's pyramid sub box, and Shake_01's boxes in the car... (just to single out the most posts) But yeah, I was thinking that anyone with such setups would have to be in a situation similar to yours... i.e. You have a second vehicle.

Just thinking back to my previous setups... I had a 2x12 box which fit right up against the back seats, and didn't even come as far forward as the spare tire well. Then, I had a 4x12 box (removed the back seats completely...because yes, they are pretty useless), and was able to keep the ENTIRE trunk empty.

I dunno, sound is great, but I just can't sacrifice functionality... after all, it IS still a car, and I like to keep using it as such. What happens if you go on a week long road trip (or Cougarfest!) and you need a suitcase!

I mean, could you do this?

Re: Post your audio system!

Because this is my daily vehical thats why I pulled out the big box, I have a single 12 in a sealed box now. It leaves me alot more room for life. But what i wanna do is build a box that fits into the little indents bewteen the wheel-well and the back of the trunk. So that way i can have bass and still have like 90% of my trunk.

Re: Post your audio system!

it used to be in there daily and then just taken out when I needed more space. but then I moved to a condo and have 4 flights of stairs between me and my car. Theres no way i can carry that thing up and down all the time. SO its been sitting my closet for a year now. I tried to sell it but no-one who was interested lives close enough to pick it up and it weighs way to much for anyone to pay for shipp. So yeah they only time i dig it out of the closet is for shows. Since my last show was the Ford nationals last year its been sitting in the closet for a long time. I love the sound of a subwoofer but i need my space so im still working on an alternative to a big box.

That's what I'd like to do. The cougar's hatchback is extremely useful, now if I only had an easy way to quickly pop out the rear strut bar. It totally kills the whole hatch back benefit.

im sure it cant hurt the amp too bad, just wondering on opinions about this
Should not ever be a problem unless the equipment is total garbage. I've had amps break their mounts and fly through the car without being damaged. =) I also had a super-dancer setup in my Sportage with my competition system. I danced that truck almost daily for 2 years, enough to break motor mounts constantly and destroy the tranny, but the amps are fine even to this day.

Nice, another Orion guy. =) Although I have to say you were getting nowhere near the juice or airspace to that HCCA. The box should have been close to 2x that size and should have been ran with a red-series HCCA amp so you could run at 1ohm vs the 2ohm stable amp you had on it. Still nice though.

Just started installing my new stuff, I'll have to post when it's all done. I can also post my SPL since I have the benefit of owning the full blown TermLAB setup. I'm now going to be running 1 very large HO alt and 2 batteries, so no more voltage problems for me. We've also started looking into a "deadbolt" style lock for the rear barndoors in the Yukon, since right now they can't handle the internal pressure and leak air horribly.
