My amps all run SUPER hot -- like if you touch them they WILL brand the Orion logo on you. Of course I'm running 2400 watts out of each of them at 1ohm. =)

Yes, my brother said they have a protection shut off...but isn't that bad too?

Wandering..I thought of that also, but with the Rockford symbol in the middle of the amp, I don't think it would look right. And I don't think it would be possible to do it in the corner since it's so close to the edge I don't want to get rid of the plexiglass either. Maybe it's a lose lose situation..

can you not drill holes on the sides? i'm assuming its something like a 2x4 shell covered in a sheet of mdf or plywood covered in carpet or something like that. either way, there are more sides than just the one with the plexiglass, so be creative, i'm sure theres some way to cool them while the plexiglass remains intact...

That's my thought as well, maybe...

Mine have never overheated. I haven't had them for too long though.

Re: Post your audio system!

My amp has a built in fan. It is also hidden under the floor. I made an amp rack for it in the spare tire well its covered by some plywood and the stock carpet piece. Not ONCE has it over heated. No problem out to fest and back hot as hell. I will be installing some computer fans, they will move plenty of air. The point of them is not to "cool" the amp but to remove the hot ass air in the space where the amp is.

My 50C has an internal fan, it HAS to. Otherwise it would get so hot you could fry an egg on it!!!

Re: Post your audio system!

I forget many of the details at this point, but it was also pretty simple

Panasonic Headunit
Pioneer 6x8 - Front
6x9 Infinity Reference - Rear
12" MTX Sub
Kenwood 800W Amp
Rockford Fosgate 1/2 Farad Cap (It was free)

It was enough to provide a little rumble, and make my ears ring a little so I was happy with it.
