I just get off of work (11:30pm) and as i walking to my car I see a silver stang (right after the fox body...what was that '98 ish?) He punches it aroud the corner and cheprs the tires..didn't turn around, (obviously he was just looking for attention) and I could already hear that its a 6. So get in my car and start driving "minding my own buisness" get a light with that same mustang.. now with visual conformationg that its a 6 (no badges and single exhaust).. he pops me a rev, I figre why not, haven't raced one of these yet. Geen and yeah im gone:eek: Cougar 1, Stang 0.

Next set of lights I notice he has some dammage to his tailight and yeah, the mustang looked a little run down. So he pops me another rev (thinking maby he was just messing around the first time because he was unbelievably slow. So Geen, and I give it half throttle and just stay a nose ehead of him, then just gradually gave it more and pulled away 2 cars.

We raced a good 4 times on my way to pick up the girl, each time not breaking the speed by any more then 15km/hr, plus no traffic.. and each time the same result. :shrugs:

Talked to him a bit at another couple lights, and yeah he was racing  and he was telling my plans of S/C his 6 and doing a bunch of other crap to make it between 12 and 1500hp.

But in the end...
Cougar 4 Mustang 0

Caught a light with him today again with the windows rolled down, i glance over he laughs and says "now, this is going to be bad again" he took off like abat outta hell, but didn't want to waste my gas just to blow his doors off again

Are thoes 6's that slow or did i just run into one that must have been incredibally beat up?

fox body was till 93. then it was the same body from 94-99.
the 3.8L V6 engine puts out 145 hp. curb weight is 3100lbs so i guess it could be that slow....nice kills

Automatic?

Yea. They're not extremely fast though, the v8's are pathetic for a v8.

Those 3.8s were dogs. But at the same time with mods he's going to throttle you. Bad.

Pick up the latest issue of Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords. Guy in there is running a 1995 V-6 Mustang with a single turbo and pulled off 10.17 @ 136mph and later backed it up with a 9.95 @ 138mph. Another V-6er without forced induction ran 11.89 @ 112mph. Call them pusstangs all you want it's faster than anyone here has ever managed to do with a Duratec V-6 2.5 or 3.0 liters.

Bickety Bam. One thing the 3.8 is not lacking is torque, and it responds quite well to mods. It may not be the "ideal" engine for modding, but then again, is the Duratec?

My 93 XR-7 had the 3.8, only slightly modded... besides the occasional blown head gasket that- that engine was famous for, it was fun to power brake or slide around in the rain with. That engine did have some torque and combine that with a heavy rear end (as the MN-12 Chasis cougar had), and it was ultra sliding fun...

I had a '94 T-bird myself with the 3.8L. Besides the head gasket issues  I loved that damn car. It was slow as hell, but it was fun to light off the tires on it and let the rear end hang out some.

Most people prob' wouldn't think so, but I know for a fact that body would drift quiet well! I always loved taking it out on the back gravel roads... fun times.

Heh. It was a great car. For the longest time I wanted a Super Coupe. That version took EXTREMELY well to mods. I never tried drifting it, but I don't doubt you could sling that car all over the place.

I don’t think the Duratec in any form is a bad engine to mod. Noble clearly did amazing things with it. And at the top end of the spectrum a Duratec powered IHRA car has run faster than any Nissan VQ powered car has ever run. That’s really saying something when you consider the VQ was designed with boost in mind.

Translated into performance in our community though is another story. To build such a vehicle costs money. A lot of money. And with the 16 – 25 year demographics that our community is made up of I just don’t see it happening.

I mean lets face it, if you’re a hardcore Ford fan and you want to go fast you bought a Mustang. That’s just the way it is.

yeah a stang has definatly more potential then the Cougar, nice cars none the less. I also love how eveyone calls it "drifting" now.. looks like fishtailing to me

no, this was drifting... that 93 would glide around the turns, rarely fishtailed less it was wet pavement.

nice! so my definiton of drifting and fishtaling are a little outta wack.. because I think of fishtailing as everything from kicking out your back end a bit to sliding around a corner and half a block sideways tires smoking like madd. But yeah i knew what ya ment...and thats FREAKIN SWEET!!

I had an '86 T-Bird with the 3.8L head-gasket-blower of doom.

Fun to drive with the torque, but still slow ass cars.
