Ok, I'm still iffy on if I'll be able to go or not, it may come down to the wire, but since it sounds like Reagan and Terry are both planning on heading up on Friday, if I do get to go, do you guys wanna caravan or something?
Its a long, lonely effing drive all the way up and back, and barring an unforseen miracle with this girl I'm sort of talking to, I'll be flying solo, so it'd be cool if there were some Cougars to share the ride, so to speak.

Well, Jen and I are in for sure. I highly would prefer driving up Friday morning... early... like 6 am meeting Terry at Hinsdale Oasis... and meeting Jason around 8 am somewhere along 80/94 in Indiana. Unless you guys are car pooling, and then we can meet Jason somewhere to drop off a car and keep going.
I'm not sure where the STL people can meet us... any ideas?
Ryan, could you get over here that early? Or did you want to push it back?
Otherwise, let me know if you guys are going Thursday night...
BigBalledOX
08-20-2006, 07:17 PM
That shouldn't be a problem. Depending on how my work schedule shakes out, I may be able to drive up to your hizzle Thursday if you don't mind me crashing on the couch, that would make it easier for Friday morning.
I'm still pending payment on a couple things and waiting to see how some other things shake out, but I should be down for this. :)

So, Der Fuhrer, you okay with the 6 am Friday?

earlier would be better. I-94 in MI sucks and we will hit rush hour at that time, thats not fun
BigBalledOX
08-21-2006, 10:31 PM
If we leave at six, just what rush hour are we gonna hit? And is there a reason we need to leave so early?
Phantom
08-21-2006, 10:54 PM
yeah... if we left the Hinsdale Oasis at 6ish... we'd actually be skirting the rush hour for Chicago (I know, because I leave for work at 6 am) and hitting the rush hour in south-western Michigan at around 8 or 9 ish... but how bad can it really be? they're about 11 million people less than here. :)
I can't see leaving Hinsdale Oasis much earlier... already getting up at 4:30 or 5... I donno... Terry, what do you think?

I will be hauling a sizable supply of redbull.
but as reagan said, we will be skirting rushhour. Its still very quick at that time but this would be a prompt 6am departure. Its not going to be the easiest place to keep a caravan but it will be very difficult if we leave any later.
BigBalledOX
08-22-2006, 03:09 AM
I may rock an IV drip of Monster . . . I'm gonna need it for that ungodly hour.
I'm not too concerned about keeping a caravan through the Chicagoland area. We can always choose a place in Indiana as a rally point lest we get seperated.

Actually... we'll have a Caravan of three... as long as all three of us have our radios, keeping together will be a sinch.
Old Timer Story: ages ago when coming back from Cougarfest 2001 (yeah, I said 2001) we had about 10 of us caravaning... We stopped in Michigan City to prepare for the imminant traffic... five us us (me, Amber, Jen (WickedLimits), Jay (Pikachu), and Al (Zincat)) decided to make a break for it... the result was a thing of beauty. Getting five people with radios and suicidal personalities through traffic was fun... no one led... the person in front would radio his intentions, cut off a car in another lane, slow down, and the other four would zoom in front of that car... and we'd repeat that... when traffic opened up a bit it was every one for themselves... we took our own lanes and just stayed within sight of each other... it was fun.

08-22-2006, 09:06 PM
Hmmm . . . and we'll have you, Terry and myself . . . sounds like we're gonna be dive-bombing through traffic again.

well money wise I seem to be OK [against my better judgement, but hey].
right now it boils down to work giving me the day off... I've more or less only been working half days for the past 5 weeks with my grandfathers health. So I've kinda [no actually greatly] exceeded my vacation/personal/sick days for the year.
And to add to the matter [as I was just reminded by my boss] is that monday is URSA Monday [the day where UPS randomly uploads new shipping rates and changes all their code without any notification... this ones suppose to be a big one, because its the whole preholiday rampup time]...So when I get in Tuesday morning, I know its going to be 12 straight hours of every customer calling up because their shipping system is dead. I'll know wensday if there is any possibility of getting friday off.

Well. I'm out.
Dad and I couldn't find the rattle, and there's no way in hell I'm driving the car with that lovely noise coming from it until I know what the hell it is and what its gonna take to fix it. I'm taking it to a shop on Monday, but they won't be able to look at it til Tuesday soonest, because of the holiday. So, barring a miracle, I'm not making it to Hamillfest.

Its a sound that makes the skin crawl, because a car should NOT be making that noise. It sounds like it might be coming from inside the transmission. Trust me, you wouldn't wanna drive your car a thousand miles round trip sounding like this.

no I completely agree with you... If I get the slightest noise, my car is not driven PERIOD. I can tell you guys aint going to be seeing my car until may or june. even though my lug nut bolts were replaced, I am not satisfied. I am replacing the front knuckles [thanks tom for the loaners], new hub bearing assemblies on all 4 wheels, new stut mounts, 4 new tie-rods. at that point I can say every suspension component has been replaced in the past few months, and my car will be ready for the road again.
