I'll tell you I was surprised.

On the way home from the ladies house and I get up to a light. There's a red 4 door Saturn, think nothing of it. I look over and this kids staring at me. It's packed with 4 teenage kids. Before the light turns the kid throws it in neutral and revs it. I wasn't going to race, so I waited the green light a sec for him to go. They sat there and looked over, so I slowly started moving. The Saturn squeels it, alright then, I floor it. My front's at his rear, I slowly pull up next to him by about 40 then have him by about a car at 80 and shut down. He keeps flying to the next light. It had more balls then I expected.

We hit another light. I give him a thumbs up and the kid smiles. I throw overdrive off (it helps a bit) and floor it as soon as the light goes. I hear him downshift into first (why? I dunno) and I instantly pull. I shut down at about 80 again and have him by about 2 cars this time. Next light, I pull up beside him.
Me "What's that got in it?"
Him "It has the v6. Is that a stick shift?"
Me "Nah, it's an automatic. Well, my cars not fast. It looks faster then it is."
Him "What do you got done to it?"
Me "Just a few things."
Him "Best 2 out of 3. I tried to shift from 1st the second time. Plus I have 4 people in the car. We'll have to hit another light."
Me *thinking* I just beat you twice. "Uhh.. I'm getting on the freeway though."
Him "Ok. We'll see what happens on the freeway."
Me

Get on the freeway and he pulls up next to me at 70. He just points forward and I see him mouth "go." I hear him floor it and do the same. My coug SUCKS at 70 and just bogs and he starts pulling. Whatever, I just let off after like a second, flash my brights adios, and get off my exit. I should've ran him from a 40 roll, but I was already paranoid about the whole racing thing. Though it was extremely nice out, clear, and there was no traffic.

Anyway. It doesn't happen often. So I thought I'd post. Apparently the car has a 3.0L with 182hp and 190lbs tq. Not bad I must say, though he did have 4 people, I got some heavy stereo equipment on top of the tub of lard the cougar is. A Saturns all plastic anyway!

Edit* Looked up a few more stats. They have a curb weight of 2910lbs!!! My car easily has a few hunder pounds on top of that. So weight wise it was pretty even. The kids weren't very big.

Some guy on my Saturn forum has a V6 L-series that runs mid-15's at the track with the automatic. Surprised me! I don't really like those cars much.

Wow. What does he have done to it? They run about mid 16's stock, so I feel I did good.

Looking through again I found the weight is actually closer, about 2900-3200lbs. That's an impressive 1/4 mile, I guess the weight really slowed him down then. I was really impressed though, figuring it'd be a little 4 banger. It looks ugly imo though, I'm still not impressed with Saturn's build quality.

In all fairness, Saturn's ripoff of the Solstice looks pretty nice (hell if I know what it's called ... the Sky or something), but that's about the only Saturn you would catch me near.

my aunt had an 03 L300 stock, and it was decently fast, wasnt a rocket but it did move. comparable to a stock cougar
