i got my car back (99atx v6)from the shop on monday, and i have been taking it very easy. But today on the way home from work i was fukin pissed off so i opened her up, and WOW. The Car doesnt feel the same when drivin hard. The shifts are hard and short at WOT. It was amazing. however the car isn't reving up as high as it used to before the shift kit went in.id say like 5,900 at best in first and second gear.... i wasn't on the highway. So i went through the first two gears like it was a manual... 1st gear 6300 rpms, same with second then D. Still the car shifted like a pro... no lag at all full power to the wheels, no slippage at all. I am very satisfied with the level ten shift kit for the atx:thumbsup:
Will shifting the way that i did, damage anything if done rarely?

Better make sure they didn't leave any tools in the drivers seat!

The manual 1-2 is really for driving up steep hills and engine braking. Not for mad shifting yo.

just got my 02 xr back with motorcraft remanufactured tranny and ive been easy on it also. did you have a aftermarket cooler installed?they are cake to install and protect your tranny 2x better than factory cooler because you can run both the factory and the aftermarket cooler.love my car now it shifts so smooth like it is brand new.now i finally see what the craze is over cougars.

yea but it is nessesary in my case.

is it necessary for you to continue to post on this website?

but seriously... why is it necessary for you to shift your ATX like its an MTX...

Why the hell is manually shifting your ATX "necessary"?

As for installing a cooler, yes, it is something you should do; it'll keep your ATX from cooking itself. It's pretty simple to install, you just need some time and a couple of Tools. And you can probably get one for around $27.34.

lbizboy is exactly right - you use the lower gears to prevent the transmission from hunting between gears and overheating, such as when you're climbing hills, especially with a heavy load.

I drive a 9000 lb motorhome while TOWING a Cougar (that's a total of more than 12,500 lbs...plus all the stuff I actually have IN the motorhome, like me). Towing a car with a vehicle that's already very heavy is probably the hardest thing for a transmission. Even when I'm climbing mountains with that rig I have no need to "shift my automatic transmission like it's a manual."

Now, why do you think you need to shift your ATX?

because it goes faster... like i said I only do that wen in line.. i ordering a tranny cooler from jegs..

The feeling of it going faster is all in your head.
