I am looking for the springs that pop the trunk up when you press the button to open the trunk. Currently, I only have one of the springs so someone has to be at the trunk when I press the button to initially "unhook" the trunk.
I am looking for one of the springs to install so trunk pops fully unhindges so that I can lift it without having to hold down the button.
thanks.
you dont have an aftermarket wings, do you?
because i thought it was my spring too until i found out that my aftermarket wing was too heavy for the spring to hold up.
just a thought.

the spoiler has nothing to do with that but there is a fix for it somewhere on teamneco

and you know this because?
and since my heavy spoiler will pop my trunk BACK every time i pop it, and it keeps it open when i take the spoiler off...

check my cougardb i have a heavy spoiler as well but i had the same problem with the stock spoiler on there
im just telling you my experience, and i did not state that heavy spoiler was THE cause, just one of the possible cause. Dont just dismiss someones input just because you think its wrong.

It was doing this with the stock spoiler too. I checked it out and I am missing the right spring. So with the trunk lid being so heavy and all, there is only one spring to pop it open. I dont know how I lost the other one, but I need one to compliment the other.

The latch mechanism on the 01-02's was redesigned, they added a spring inside the latch to pop it past the locking mechanism. I would check about getting a new redesigned latch and your problems will be over. I have streched the springs till I was blue in the face and it never was "fixed".

really? ford parts list the latch the same for all years.
also stronger gas shocks will help keep it from re-latching.

Same part but different revision. I'll take a picture of both when my 2001 gets out of the shop.
