View Full Version : My Mom's Focus vs. Schenectady's Own Black Betty

So, my mom and I are driving in my mom's 2003 Ford Fucus 2 door hatch, 2.3L (the 2.0L that year didn't meet NYS emissions :crazy: ) back from Bed, Bath, & Beyond. Mom's at the wheel. We're on a 4 lane road with stop lights, speed limit 45 mph. Technically, it's the Crosstown Expressway, but we're not in NYC, so it's just referred to as Route 7.
Vroom vroom there's a shined up black mustang five point slow next to us in the right hand lane - you know, the glorified Escort years. He keeps revving his engine at us, you can see the pretty extra gauges in the center dash.
My mom goes, "You wanna race?" :rofl: "Go ahead," she says as she stays steady on the gas.
He pulls forward a bit, but the Fucus easily overtakes him! He's soon stuck behind a Ford Explorer taking the upcoming exit. Now he's lagging back, and forced to pull up the rear as the road goes to 2 lanes and he's there for about a half mile until the traffic light where he wants to turn left. :thumbsup: to him.

Hey, don't push it...I'm still trying to explain to her the concept of hp and why her little car goes zoom zoom so quickly. (She likes it.) I was having enough trouble tonight yelling at her for stepping on the gas while stopped at a red light.

Now im usually not one to disregard anyones statement but 5.0's arent slow haha I hope/know atleast i think I know that your kidding, its the internet its hard to tell that you were kidding or not. stories probaly true I dont argue that, i guess i got a soft spot for 5.0's me and my brother swapped one into a 98 GT so I love em!:biggrin: .fordlove.

there are plenty of slow 5.0's. some of those things are dogs, esp auto's. i raced an auto 5.0 in my old 2.0 zetec and he barely had me by a nose. just depends on which model, what kinda shape the engine is in, tranny, and mods
