I currentally have a 99 cougar, wingless and i picked up a roush wing not too long ago. I am looking to install it myself because i would have to pay a dealership to do a custom install and have them charge me up the Wa-Zoo for it. Are they easy to install or should i pay a dealership to do it? I tried a search and came up with nothing on how to install it. Anyone done them before and care to share some tips on how to do it? Thanks!

Well, transfering a wing is pretty simple job that just about anyone can do. The only difficulty entailed in doing a wingless install is drilling the holes right. I'm sure that if you are patient and precise enough you can do it no problem. Just make sure you take your time getting everything right and don't try to rush it.

If you don't feel comfortable though, you are probably better off taking it somewhere to have it done so that you don't run the risk of damaging anything.

As for the install, its pretty simple. You just have to open the hatch and pull off the 4 covers to get to where you can tighten everything up. That part should be no problem.

Wait till tommorow and I will get precise mesurements of the hole spacing for you. Then you will drill your holes and use touch up or primer to seal off the metal to prevent rusting.

That would be awesome! Also what do you mean by seal off the metal? Where would you apply the primer to? The trunk of the car, or the wing bolts?

The holes you drill will leave bare metal so touch it up.

Yeah, the Roush matches the stock mounting points. I checked that before buying mine, since I already have a stock wing so no drilling for me.

Hey have you gotten around to finding out those measurments yet?

Use a grease pencil to mark your holes.

layout as follows

Top hole

Measure 3.35 inches along the side of the hatch and make a mark perpendicular to the edge. 90 degrees

then 1.65 inches from the outside edge.

This hole is oval shaped and the measurments are to the center of the hole

Back hole

1 inch from bottom and 2.5 inches from the side

Make your marks and match the spoiler up to your marks before drilling. these are precise measurements using a micrometer.

Another tip, make a cardboard cut out of the spoiler footprint and use that to properly line up your holes.
