I'd need a place to crash as I am poor and cannot afford a hotel room. Can I make the trip up on a single tank of gas? ;)

I dunno about any so-calers who are planning on going besides from me. Ryan is talking about an october carshow just FYI.

LostRacer

What Ryan? half of Socal NECO is named Ryan..:disgust:

Fill up when you leave..then fill up half way..by the time you get here..you'll be at about 1/4 tank. Hitch a ride and savethat gas for the trip back..fill up before you leave, then in Lost hills. You'll be fine the rest of the way.

Think you can do the trip in just about 3 tanks of gas(round trip).

Maybe. It all depends on traffic and such. Do have a location to first meet up so i can plan my rout up?

Ok, I'm looking at a 7 hour drive (at least). I figure I can leave at 6ish in the morning and get there in the evening. Unless you guys want me there around noonish.
Take the I-5 North until I get to the State ROute 152, head west on that until I get the 101 and I go north on that until when???

****ing hell. I got a good job today at UPS in their offices.

Bad News, I may not be able to arrive in NorCal until late friday night/early saturday morning depending on my training schedual.

More bad news I got my car back the other day. THe mechanic was telling me about the bad shape of the engine as he found metal chips in the system and that a piston may be slapping. (**** these ****ers forgot to tell me about before they repaired the lifters for 1300   ). No amount of mad faces will show how ****ing pissed off I am at this moment. He advises not me to take it easy on the engine and not to travel long distances. I'm still going north for one last adventure before I am back at school on the 5th. Melinda, I look forward to your company ;)

For those of you with my cell number (tyrice) feel free to call me to discuss arrangements for activities and such during the weekend

Oh yeah, I was rearended today when some kid hit the gas at a light and smashed into my car. No damage.

If I break down I will call ty to pick me up ;)

I'll make it, i've been driving on it for about a month now and I will continue to do so until the engine dies, if it does. If it's really bad I'll see about grabbing one of the family's V-dubs

Sorry, for some reason this thread kept coming up as "read" so I didn't even know there were new posts.

For a centralized location, most of us NorCal folks are really in the Peninsula and South Bay. Look for hotels in the following cities for best location:

Mountain View
Sunnyvale
Santa Clara
San Jose
Milpitas

If you want to stay in SF proper, there are some nice "boutique" hotels in the Union Square area.

Tyrice is in the Palo Alto area, nearest Mountain View. Tony is in Milpitas on the other side of the bay, (but not far away), and I can be wherever because I'm a ****ing gypsy anyway.

As long as you guys want to spend a day hanging out in SF (most likely) then anywhere in those cities mentioned is all good!

It'll be great becuase I don't know my way around the bay area, but I doubt I will get lost on the drive up. I-5 north for 370 someodd miles then hit the 152 west for 30 some odd miles to the 101 and take that north and I will eventually end up in Ty's city. :)

I hope one of you guys can help me out with my car problems up there. I guess the lifters where not the issue as I thought because supposidly my mechanic fixed them. When I took my car back he said it could be a belt or piston slap but nothing has changed and they will not fix the click problem like I told them too. Then they start talking about how bad ashape my engine is in. Maybe those mother ****ers should've said something before they charged 1300 to fix it. I hope those ****ers all die slowly.

NorCalCoug
08-25-2006, 01:38 AM
Well, technically an HLA is a type of lifting assembly.

Instead of pushrods pushing up on the lifters, you have hydraulic pressure.

While they aren't truly "lifters", even the Ford Parts Catalog refers to them as "lifter assembly".

(It's really a hydraulic lash adjuster- the cams actuate on the valves directly-ish, rather than having a pushrod->lifter
