Well, since I have nothing better to do at the moment I can give you all the details. A friend and I went to a movie earlier in the evening. We got out at about 11ish and got a phone call from other friends of ours that they where drinking downtown. I can't (legally) drink but since I am such a great guy we go anyways. We end up at TGI Fridays downtown and are there until about 1ish. My other friend (we'll call him matt since that is his name) was telling me about all the work he has put into his 93 5.0 Mustang, and I was talking about my pathetic stock cougar and about the adventures in that and my previous car. Well, he wants to show off his stuff and I figure it will at least be fun. So we head north on a s 3 lane one way surface street (5th Ave Downtown SD) toying with each other, Speeding up, slowing down etc. We turn onto Washington Ave and pull up to a 4 way intersection with two left hand turn lanes onto the freeway on ramp (San Diego, CA 92103 for you google earthers who are interested in seeing the intersection). We sit at the red light next to each other for the full duration just shooting the **** and reving each others engines. You could hear the Jetta's quirky 2.5 litre I-5 engine over his 383 V8 (I think he told me it was a 383 at TGI Fridays, but it was loud and I could barely hear him). Well, put it in gear light turns green the jetta peels out a little and takes off, putting that 170 ftlbs to work. However by the time I reach 60 going north down the on-ramp he is at least 5 cars infront of me. By the time I get to where it says "State Route 163" on the map he is where I placed "Jetta hits 125". By that time I am at "Jetta Hit's 125" (I have to dodge a few cars, nothing serious as it's 2 in the morning) he shuts it down north of the intersection with Interstate 5. I complete the "race" with a ricer flyby and slow down and we both cruise homeward in the 80s.

I guess you can't really call it a race, so much as doing stupid **** on the freeway early in the morning. Joyriding if you will. But I got a six-pack of san diego's Finest beer (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y105/Userdrew/KSamberlager.jpg) out of it. I offered it up to claymore for his intake kit but he refused.

So
This (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y105/Userdrew/thecarfront.jpg) vs This? (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y105/Userdrew/925962998_l.jpg)

The jetta got it's pants beat out of it ;) and the my cougar should be ready tomorrow.

383 is typically a stroked chevy. 393 is a stroked 351. 347 is about as big as a stock block 5.0 can be stroked to. Just sounds wierd with the stock height motor i saw in there.

306,331,347 are the only stroked 302's I'm aware of.

edit: just to add more info. A 302 is a bored 289.

306 is a bored 302 really rather than stroked. 331s are gaining alot of popularity due to the extremes a 347 can really be, especially when going under forced induction. I'm building a stroked 351 right now. Its going to be a 393 with the 30 overbore.

Well, like I said I don't know what he has in his car now. The original engine is long gone. The dyno pic could've been before he swapped out the engine to what it is now. I'll find out next time I talk to him.
