What's the best type of glue to use to recover a headliner? I recovered mine for the second time with silver vinyl, and both times it has let go. I used what was supposed to be really good contact cement adhesive, but it just won't hold. I was thinking it had something to do with the vinyl, so this time I'm gonna go with black suede. I just need to know the best type of glue to use and where to get the glue.

Do you happen to remember the brand or what it was called cause I know there are a lot of glues out there that say they are headliner adhesives, but a lot of them don't work. Also, about how much did the one you get cost? And can you give me some tips on redoing mine?

It was in a yellowish can. I think it said Headliner and fabric adhesive. Something like that. It was about 10$.

Yes it can be scrupul0us. Go to a fabric store ask for headliner fabric.

The hard part is getting the old foam off. Ugh. Once that was done it only really took like 30 minutes to cover.

DO NOT USE 3M SUPER 77!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That stuff sucks. Use The 3M Super trim adhesive. spray a tack coat on both pieces and let it dry for about 3 minutes, then recoat and stick the vynil to the headliner backing. The super trim adhesive is in a white can and works awesome.

you have to scrape off the old glue/foam from your old headliner. using a wire brush, sander or something of the sort.

or you can just use a fabric and go over the old foam headliner. i used a black velvet over the old foam headliner with weldwood contact cement. 3 years still good as the first day the flash on the camera made the silver flake sparkle and looks like fuzz or somethin but its not..lol
