I believe I will be buying a 2000 Cougar today! I am from NYC my real name is Sean. If not what should I look for, Its a 2000 cougar 63k miles automatic. What normaly goes wrong? its in brand new exterior condition and interior is nice too. Ac and power everything including moonroof is all working. This is my first car ever I am 17 and I am really out of my element checking it out myself.

Check the sunroof. More than once. They are hella expensive to fix/replace.

Might want to ask if it is still on its 1st alternator. Some coug's burn through them. I only replaced mine once around 80K.

ATX tranny died around 90K....but I admit i beat her to hell. :(

So it's the alternator that normaly goes? should I like check underneath for leak's or something any specific sign's I should look for that something is wrong? This is my first car I am spending every cent of money ive made throughout highschool and I want to be happy with it and not get screwed! I love the cougar but im a little worried that the car look's too good to be true.

too good to be true? how much is it for sale for?
the alternators can be a little temprimental on some cars. there are members that are on their 4th alts already. but if you have the know how its easy enough to replace yourself and if u do...buy one with a warrenty so where u bought it will replace it for free.
