So im driving to home hardware minding my own buisness (haha i still get a kick outta that). And get a light with a very clean IROC camaro, black, big fat tires, very nice. Knowing I'd get my doors blown off from a dig for sure I just keep to myself. Light turns green and I just accelerate as usual, hit second..coming up to 4k the Camaro punches it, well I figure why not, hammer it, the camaro stops pulling (he started about half a car or so behind me) then I start pulling on him, shift to 3ed and I got about a car and a half

Little confused here, thought thoes things are fast? I was definatly expecting to see his taillights?

Maby it was all show and just a run down IROC..and I know he was racing, because he did a ricer fly by towards a red light  and after that he was reving his shat like a honda..

GRRRRRRR people need to get one thing through their skulls. NOT ALL MUSCLE CARS ARE FAST! An old worn out iroc isn't going to be that fast maybe good for mid 15's more than likely only hitting high 15's.

WAIT A MINUTE!!!! Did I hear you say a nice looking IROC? I don't think I've ever seen one that didn't include one or more of the following...

-mismatched body panels (seems 1/2 red 1/2 blue is very popular with IROCs)
-large rust spots
-duct taped t-tops
-a dent or hole in the side of the car
-a messed up dual exhaust with one pipe hanging down scaping the ground with the other one shooting off to the side
-the motor sounding like it's missing a few cylinders
-no hood at all

Funny IROC story from the other day... I was on my way home from work, just made a turn and I see an IROC coming at me in the other lane. All of the sudden I hear him punch it, hear a loud pop while at the same time seeing a huge burst of white smoke come out both sides of the hood... and then another pop and the hood popping up and smashing against the windshied. I couldn't stop laughing... of course, that was AFTER he passed me, because until then all I saw was a 4000lb camaro coming into my lane with me in my Saab. Very funny though.

I've seen some nice looking iroc's. I had a buddy that had an iroc convertible that was in perfect condition.

See thats the thing, if it had rust holes, some greeser with a mullet, sounding like crap IROC i would be expecing mid or high 15's but this one looked nice and clean, and sounded fine..if it was a regular Camaro I also would have expected it being slower... but some of thoes run 14's stock right?

oh yeah and tune in next time for Black Betty vs White Civic....

Just because the body looks good doesn't mean the motor doesn't have 150,000 miles on it and in need of a tune up.

good point.. kinda forgot about that one because i see more of the muscle car that looks like crap for now because they do engine work first.

Lets not diss the Iroc here. My uncle has spent most of his time building up his I-Roc, right now its repainted, looks nice, new exhaust, new engine, forged pistions, new headers, Raceing/Pre Chips. right now I belive he is pushing 900-950 hp to the rear.

i can appreciate haviing that much power and see why he did it. but with 950 hp, its really not practical to drive so its just a dyno queen really? i mean if its not i bet he goes through a lot of tires

With that much power it is more than likely a drag car and has some nice slicks on the back.

In the realm of Fbodies they weren't that fast off the lot. ls1 fbodies do mid 13's LT1 fbodies do low 14's Iroc's do mid 14's(1988) to mid 15's(1990).
In 1988 the IrocZ came with 170HP 255TQ
In 1990 the Iroc Z28 came with 205HP and 285TQ

thats not alot of power for a car that size, but then again it was the 80's. All you could get was TQ in the 80s.

actually, its not a dyno queen or a rally car, he prolly drives it around 3 times a week on the road, he always goes the speed limit on it, he has gone through alot of tires, and he will stop at car shows, he got it to that much hp for the glory, he dont race and dont speed in it.
