does the engine series on a 99 cougar produced in 98 cougar with series 8g 401 AA on the side of the engine swap out with a engine 7g 828 AA from a contour i believe... junkyard gave me this engine and its not the same series will this work for my car please let me know guys
2.5L Duratec = 2.5L Duratec, inasmuch as the worst thing you would have to do is swap LIM/fuel rail, harnesses, and some sensors if it wasn't the same "series" engine.

and front cover, no?
No... You can use either style- They never changed the accessory positions- Just the tensioner position. You'd have to get the old-spec serpentine belt (if there is a difference in length between the two styles).

gotcha, I knew about the tensioner thing but I wasn't sure if the 2.5 ever used a front mount waterpump
