For your front gauge display (spedometer, fuel, temp, ect.) Does anyone know if it is illegal to have that plastic/glass part off or not? Because I want to paint the cover part, but it appears that it's sealed on there pretty good, I attempted to pull and managed to crack the side a little already and don't want to do any major damage unless I know that I can keep it off.

to do it the right right way to have to take the dash apart... the whole custer unscrews and that plastic just pops right off (its clipped on)...i would recommend leaving it on so u dont accidentally mess you needs up... i have an extra plastic piece if you wanna buy it

Well right, I know that much, I have that whole plastic piece and the cover sitting on my kitchen table right now, it's just the fact that it appears that it's almost melted together, which is kind of why I'm sketchy about 'popping' it off.

I appreciate your attempt in trying to help me Asymmetric, but I already knew all that... When you go to change your gauge faces, that whole black/clear cover that you remove to get to your gauge face is what I'm talking about. The clear plastic cover is what I'm attempting to remove, and I'm trying to paint the blackish color cover that sits right ontop of the gauges.

yes, you have to separate the clear from the gray. it IS melted - or plastic welded. I used a dremel and a cut-off wheel to separate mine. Just take your time. I think this is mentioned in a how-to on teamneco, but really, I have covered all they say there..just separate wherever you see the melted area - and be careful not to crack it more.
BTW, you have to separate these to install a gauge bezel...like my CF one.

that not completely correct, you can install it without removing the plastic, i did it without doing it although it was truly a major PITA. you just have to fish it thru those two slots on the bottom and then i used a 90 deg gasket scraper to push it down inside the cluster.

Its not hard to take apart, it takes 15 mintues to take apart you dash to get to the the thing, take your time. Nothing happens in 1 minute in life.
