So... I need some help.

I've had a torn CV boot for a little over a year... its time to get it fixed.

I ordered a remanufactured Drivers-side Drive Shaft Assembly from partsamerica.com.

The Ford CD (which is a lot less helpful than I'd have imagined) says I can't reuse three specific parts which is neglects to give me f*cking part numbers for:
- Front Axle Wheel Hub Retainer
- Front Suspension lower arm-to-ball joint nut
- circlip.

So here are my questions... I'm figuring you guys know best since Steve's drive shaft just got replaced... and well, Toms here.

Where the hell do I get these parts?

And once I get these parts... how hard a job is this to do? And do you need the "special" tools?

Thanks guys.

The shaft will come with a new axle nut( Front Axle Wheel Hub Retainer
), and circlip too. Also you can re use the bolt and nut for the ball joint, just use some blue loc-tite on it. If it is the drivers side axle you will need a special tool to remove the shaft from the trans.

We didn't fully remove the axle though, we just separated the CV joints.

Thanks guys,

And thanks for the offer Jason. Unfortunately this weekend and every weekend for a month is shot...

But the axle is in, so I'm good anyway. :)

that's another thing...I have the stupid emission retarded b.s. stupid crap to go thru...and of course like everyone in the world..i'm throwing a CEL. Stupid O2 sensor. Those are freakin' 50 bucks a piece. AND I have another code showing to, so, either I some how get the codes clear right before I go to get the test done, or I dump a freakin' 100 bucks on something that burns out in a couple months...stupid Gateway up the butt clean air act.

hey tom....how long does that computer clear the codes for that you have...i'm thinking..if I get one, clear the codes for the time it takes to do the test, I could pass. Or, does the computer throw a cell all the time even though it's been cleared. Any thoughts?

It will throw the cel again once the car has re-learned your driving habits. Somewhere around 50-75 miles. Now the problem with that is, they won't E-test your car until the computer is E-Test ready, meaning it has relearned your habits. They do that so people don't do exactly what you're asking.

yuup, it takes at least 50 miles FROM THE CEL TURNING OFF. it holds that error in memory for that long, and will be displayed durning emissions checking even if the light is off.

crap..that sucks. thanks though..I can fix the one problem, but the other code shows it's dumping to much fuel into the engine...if I remember right.

I beg to differ, mine was a touch over 20 this past weekend.

Dude, you're still waiting for that axle? geez, tell Autozone to suck it and go to PartsAmerica.com. Hell, I ordered it, received it, had it installed, and return the core to AdvancedAuto all within a week.

And speaking of Hamilfest... I missed the answer in the other post... when are you guys leaving again? Thursday or Friday?

dude, right now...i don't know if I can do hamilfest...ahhhh!!!!! I have to get this stupid gateway clean air act done...which might cost a ton of money, due to the engine running rich.

Plus, the halfshaft if my car's goin'
