Well i was on my way home from work today.... i drove about 15 miles and i noticed the tranny shifting a little weird...i came to a stop light then when i went to go on green it reved to like 3000rpm and then slammed into first.well about 5 miles later i noticed my o/d light flashing ....and my ! light blinking next to my o/d light...

so i pull over to the next stop..i put it in P and then back in D and it didnt nothing...i looked under my car and i saw fluid leaking ....as i went to check my fluid level i noticed when i pulled my dipstick out that it didnt seem like it was in the whole way......maybe the fluid leaked out threw the tube????is it possible ?????

well anyways the dipstick was bone dry....so i tried to add some fluid in and i didnt even get 1/2 a quart in and it was running all over the ground..and i was pouring slow..well it was comming out the top of my tube....for some reason the oil didnt want to go down into the tube....and there is no way it could be over filled from just adding 1/2 quart ....

well i gave it a couple minutes and it went down a little but was still in the tube ........so i got about 1 quart in it .....i started it up and it went into D fine so i decided to run it home ....it was only another 5 miles......welll on the way home it shifted perfect nothing seemed to go wrong......

Do you guys have any clue what could be wrong, think its still ok to run another 50 mile round trip tommorow ??????

THanks Erik

UPDATE.....

ok this one has go me stumped........well i decided to take start up my car and take it aroudn the block so i could check the fluid......

well when i got back and checked the fluid i noticed it was like an inch above full......then i checked it again...it was like 2 inches above full......so i waited like 15 seconds and checked it again .....now its like 3 inches above fulll......

i kept checking it about every 15 seconds and the fluid level kept rising ....so i decided to take the dipstick out and wacth down in the tube.......

and sure enough with in another 30 seconds the fluid was comming up out of the tube and spilling over the side and even was spitting it out, up towards the intake

now i may not be a tranny expert but im pretty sure that the fluid shouldnt be comming out of the tube like that

and it will be my crap luck the the tranny will give up ....considering i just put a 3L in it and spent all my money on that ....and i still owe money on the car :banghead:

im starting to lose hope on it:shrug:

well i figured it out .............

turns out when i put my battery back in i layed it on the vent hose for the tranny and it was completly blocked off...:banghead: :banghead:

so it wasnt allowing it to vent properly causeing it to build pressure and thats why tranny fluid was flowing out of the dipstick tube

this has got to be one of my dumber moments

I'm glad that was an easy fix. Sounds like the last thing you need!

I just want to thank your for this. I just had the same problem with my transmission and I had the vent hose blocked off as well. I'm glad that I searched through the forums for this because it just saved me a lot of money trying to get it to a shop and have them look at it. And Yes I know that this is a little bit older post that I just resurected but this just saved my butt.
