so i went out last night to my first VGC meet i just joined up a new car club since i cant find any NECO members close to home. this club im part of now is cool, got some stangs, me, two SR20 powered 240's, got a TT 350z and some miscellanious pontiacs n chevys.
so newayz the parking lot we were at coincidentally had an acura meeting goin on. some dudes started talkin sh!T to me sayin how i drove a girls car and that i shouldnt be hangin around since my car can only run a 16.........
hmmmmmmm. so my buddies are listening to these clowns talkin smack and we ALL began to laugh. and the blabbermouths wanted me to run them just to "show me how slow my car was". i quite willingly accepted.
it was me versus two mid 90's Legends, a 2.5 TL, and a 2.2 CL.
enough said, none of them had any chance at all.
we lined up even at one end of the mall parking lot across the street and the finish line was going to be the movie theater at the other end. about an 1/8th a mile away.
the closest car to me was a good 8 lengths back when i crossed over the end. and that was the TL.
then the two shumcks from before, the legend drivers, they had the nerve to keep talkin junk. so i said that id give them a 3 car head start.
it didnt make a difference seeing as how i blew them away by the top of 2nd.
i have achieved much more respect from my new club. and i have boiled more rice.

You're racing across a parking lot?????
If someone like you ever hit anyone in my family because you were
racing across a parking lot or some place stupid like that I'd leave a round
in your chest.
But that's just me:)

The way I read it, they were there late at night, long after the mall had closed. If its anything like the malls here in Phoenix, thats probably the BEST place to race, because its just wide open and if you do spin out, there's nothing to hit anywhere (unless you hit the other guy you race). That and the parking lots are PRIVATE PROPERTY, so the cops CANNOT arrest you unless the Landlord specifically requests it. And even then, you probably won't get charged with "street racing" because you weren't on any DOT-maintained roadway, so its outside the legal jurisdiction.
But I see your point, if they're doing this in the middle of the day or early evening.... :gtfo:

so now you're illegally entering private property? how'd you feel if i just went into your lawn and starting making donuts.. or watever. i'm sure if you were the owner, you'd want to associate the mall with a good buying experience, not with a bunch of street racer hangout, which can later be associated with a group, a gang.
just my .02 .... but i see your point

sheesh get of my *** guys. it was like 2 in the morning when we decided to race. but we had been in the parking lot for like 6 hours already. all the customers from the mall were coming out and looking at our cars as they were leaving....kinda like a car show. but then we just started BS'ing and ended up staying when all those acuras rolled on in

If the owners didn't want them there they'd put up "No loitering" signs. Or something else with the same basic meaning. That's what a local mini-mall did here when a bunch of people started hanging out in thier parking lot on a daily basis.

I used to race across the mall parking lot all the time back in highschool.. if you do one or 2 races and get outta there then by the time mall securety calls the cops your gone. worked great!

Good kills man, ya being in a car club is pretty cool., ..im president in mine and its just awesome to have like 15 other cars following you and hanging out with them each weekend. and ya racing in a parking lot aint bad. ive done it before and you dont feel endangerd to get a ticket or loose ur license or anything.

Not quite right on the law there, AZLegalBobbyBooshay..
If the cop sees you committing a crime, even if it's on private property, he has the right to come enforce the law. You can still get found for reckless endangerment. Most of the speed contest laws won't apply because it's not a public road or highway. You are "out in the open" and in view of the public, so it's not quite the same. Just like if you have a party and leave the door open, the cops can walk right in because that's considered an invitation to come inside. Or if they walk in behind some other people, they can come on the property without a warrant. If you stop them and tell them no, then they can't enter.
But in any case, most large markets with parking lots have pre-existing letters of permission granted to the police to enforce law on their property.

not sure if it's a NY thing or not, but I know if a parking lot has entrances on two different roads it makes it perfectly legal for a cop to enforce traffic laws in the parking lot. Either way, anyone who thinks they can do whatever they want because it's not a "road" is an idiot. Cops, with the amount of laws they can pick and choose from, can ALWAYS find a way of sticking you will something if you deserve it.
personally, I love people like you because it gives me something to watch... whether I get to see a race or someone get tickets, it's pure entertainment for me! just watch out for those concrete based parking lot lights... they'll end your fun real quick.

^^Yeah they can still enforce the law, once upon a time we had a quick race.. then we all just messed around (I think I spun my tires, did some doughnuts) then my buddy Matt wanted to race me again, so we lined them up, and bang cops show up. Its a very good thing they did at that time because it was about half a second away from 'go'. Well they couldn't get anything on us because they didn't see anything but we could have got: recless driving, racing, stunting, and speeding (speed limit in parking lots are like 15 or soething). So yeah they searched our vehicles and found some of my buddys porn  but we got off with warnings  thank god. SO lesson learned, if your going to race in a parking lot, do 1 or 2 and get outta there.

that's not even completely correct iirc. down here in atlanta there was a common street racing spot that took place in a huge parking lot. cops put up a sting type operation, and a bunch of people were arrested for street racing, speeding, contest of speed or w/e, and crap like that.

WTF ever happened to going to the damned track?
I swear, I've been in this market for 10 years now, and I've seen some good kids die because of stupid crap like this. Take it to the track and grow up already...

Its kind of hard to go to a track when the nearist one is 2 hours away :( pisses me off, our towns street racing would clean up a TON if we had a track... But very good point, I would take it to the track but we do the next best thing. deserted highway.
