Now I obviously know my engine is dead, but I'm still not sure of exactly WHY...the mechanic said I had no compression in 2 of the cylinders etc etc...I will be ordering a new engine this week but just for fun thought I'd share this video with everyone...see what people think the problem is. Sounds like a bunch of turkeys to me...

I would be buying the 2.5 SVT motor and tranny together.. I have a strict budget, and the guy who is doing it is willing to do the 2.5 swap cause he knows its a direct swap. Not sure if he would be willing to swap the 3L block with the 2.5 head, plus Im not sure what is gone in the engine already so I dont know what other parts Id be buying..

there is a 3L forum and will help with the build. i built mine last jan, when my 2.5 went out. i have my whole build on here and many others do also.

on my 3L i used svt parts. also the stock tranny is the same tranny as the svt...there is other things to upgrade it.

You realise the SVT tranny is no different than the one you have now? In fact your 02 tranny might actually have better shift forks. Just buy a new SVT clutch and SVT flywheel to go along with your current tranny and call it a day/

I forgot about the tranny having better shift forks....I was thinking of getting the tranny as well cause the combo only has 48000 miles on it which is half as many miles i have on the car now...eitherway..not a big deal..Ill get the motor for sure..Oh, and 1 more thing I was going to ask. Will I have to worry about the return/returnless fuel system when buying the SVT motor?

Yes.

I take it your car is an 02, which means you will need a returnless SVT engine.

If the one you are buying is return style, you'll need to swap out the fuel rail with the injectors.

You'll also need the ECU from a returnless SVT as well, and then have to get the PATS system reflashed.

If I'm wrong on any of this, someone knowledgeable please correct me....

Do you know what years, by chance, the SVT was made with the returnless style?

only need the re-pats if u take the ecu also. just get a xcal2 and have them do the tune with svt specs. probally same price as reflashing......plus its tuned for ur mods.

Well im ordering a 2000 SVT motor with only 45,000 miles on it tomorrow..Unfortunatly, it doenst come with the ECU so I'll have to save up for that to..But I guess I cant complain cause Its a pretty good deal.

He never really "diganosed" the problem, but mentioned something about how I must have had an oil leak(only half a quart in it) and said mostly the problem was the crankshaft, but didnt say what exactly he meant by that.

just buy a xcal2 from brenspeed. talk to brent there and tell him ur mods. buy the svt motor take ur parts of it, ie cams, tb,uim, lim and install all of that on a 3L.....more power and u dont have to worry about oiling issues that the 2.5 has svt and non-svt

What you are hearing is EXTREME blow-by back into the crankcase ... I bet your entire intake track is soaking in oil ... also sounds like a broken piston or two.

Do you mind telling me how many miles you had on it?

how does an intake track covered in oil create blow back?
also, how would the piston be broken? or do you mean valves?
