I haven't been around much lately, mainly because I am saying goodbye to my Cougar and saying hello to a turbocharger...lol.
My beautiful cougar is gone and I have bought a 1995 Acura Integra LS. Fortunately the parts for an Integra are much more available and cheaper then a Cougar and I can acutally play around with the engine more now. I already have a turbocharger set up for it, something my poor V6 would never see. She was a wonderful car, I will miss her!

American to Japanese

Good luck with it, it will definately be quick. Ive never liked the feel of imported vehicles. Its kind of perturbed me that a car like the Civic is built overseas in parts, then shipped to the U.S. for assembly, and yet they cost the same as a Focus which is built here in the U.S. (mostly) something about quality strikes me with that equasion, since everything is dirt cheap to build overseas.

Like why is a KIA 20k, and a Crown Vic 20k. There is an obvious difference in luxury and quality. I dunno, sorry if I ruined your thread, these thoughts just came to me.

What color is this Integra, how many miles, auto or manual, leather, power? DETAILS!

Since I work directly in the automotive supply chain, I can answer this. One word... UNIONS. The UAW forces the company to pay crazy payrates to a line operator who sits and presses a button all day, thus driving up our parts. And btw, most import cars sold in the US are supplied and built in the US now -- we do Nissan, BMW, Toyota, and Honda already here... Also, many of the parts on your American car came from overseas, as well, you'd be suprised the number of containers I'm currently tracking on that journey... ;)

Oh yeah, and that sucks about ditching the Cougar, but its completely understandable. When I first bought this car it was a project car, which I had plenty of money to play with, unfortunately because of the cost of items for the car I've only been able to do 1/3rd of what I would have done on another vehicle. Which is also why I own two DSM's again now that the Cougar is close to DONE...

I know most of the cougar is basically mazda parts!

The integra is Black with grayish black interior....needs to be cleaned!
I bought it from a private owner in the Chigago area. Made it home with no problems! The best part....it only took me 3/4 of a tank of gas to get home!
The car is clean and has never been modified. It's still an auto, All the manual one were almost $1500 more in price...because of the popularity. But it's all good if/when the tranny goes we will swap it.
She needs a little work but its a great car, and it will be awesome when we get done with it!
The best part....my wheels/tires from the cougar fit on the Acura! So i swapped the stock 14s with my 17s!

Ah, must have dual-drilled rims, eh? =) Nice find, the Acura's are good cars, and they generally last forever...

Cougar engine = Porsche designed
Cougar tranny = Ford UK designed
UIM Casting = Cosworth (UK) casting process
...

I could go on and on... Down to the where the wire harnesses come from. ;) It's kinda nice being on the inside of Ford's data, I can see what plant every part came from. =)
