I pulled out of the parking lot after class today and a refrigerator on wheels blew by me. The thing sounded like ****.
I kicked it down and caught up with him and as I got closer to it I noticed it had exhaust, graphics, and I guess it was his car club name "Team RPM."
I pulled up beside him and looked over and he just kicks it down all ready to race. So after he's about 3-4 cars ahead of me I finally kick it down to 3rd and blow by his ass.
We got caught at a redlight. He starts reving the hell out of his motor right before the light turned green (I guess this is what Team RPM means.) So the light turned green and he dumps the clutch at what it sounded like about 5-6 grand.
I take off like a granny while he's next to me eating his tires off the rims. I take 1st gear up to about 4500, 2nd to about 5750, 3rd to about 5000 and let off. I had about 8 cars on him when I let off.
I left it in 3rd gear. When he got about 3 cars behind me I kicked it down again and started to pull from him when his nose was at my rear.
He followed me as I pulled into the Shell station. He looked at me and said you have a damn turbo don't you. I looked at him and said no. I told him he needs to learn how to race and get a faster car.
He didn't like it when I told him his car looked like a refrigerator on wheels.

my favorite part wasn't the fact that you obviously beat him! It was the fact that you shifted at exactely 5750 RPM haha! That sealed it for me! most people just say like yah 5000, 6000, 5500, 6500, next thing yah know people will be saying yah man I shifted at oh say.. 5437 RPM I know cuz I counted! haha! Sorry just found it funny! How do you tell a the differences between 50RPM when you're driving unless you have a computer haha!
sorry about the burn, just made me laugh preety hard when i saw that as if you knew exactely when you shifted haha! sorry again, I'm still laughing!

that race must have been like watching 2 cars accelerate normally from a red light. I bet the cars behind you at the light stayed close behind just getting up to normal driving speeds.
sorry for sounding mean. but c'mon you've been writing a lot of kill stories lately. Are you sure you didnt see it and just think about racing it.

06 Xb Specs:
Engine Size: 1.5L
Number of Cylinders: Inline 4
Camshaft Double overhead cam (DOHC)
Compression Ratio: 10.5
Horsepower: 103 hp @ 6000 rpm
Torque: 101 ft-lbs @ 4200 rpm
In 05 had 108 hp and 105 hp and they decreased it in 06.
My personal favorite description of the xB was, "Did they forget to take it out of its shipping crate?"
I was laughing like mad reading your story. I figured, hey, maybe there is something pretty sweet about that Cougar, though, so I checked your sig. Hmm, CAI, straight-through, chip... Ok, not bad... I4? WTF? That poor xB driver... I hope you made sure that he knew that you had the little motor. :)
I really do think that the people that mod xBs (or other slow cars) are smoking something. I should find one, and teach them a lesson with my girlfriend's Saturn.

If you look at your tach, you have 3 marks between each 1000 rpm. I shifted at the 3rd mark. If you if you think about it for atleast a half a second you would know that you have the 1000 rpm, 1250 rpm, 1500 rpm, 1750 rpm, 2000 rpm, and so on.

Stock tachs aren't exactly accurate.

The reason he knows is because his tach needle moves so slow it's easy to see exactly where he shifted to the tenth of an rpm.
