If you are done adding mods to your car then get a chip otherwise don't waste your time since you would have to get it re-burned every time you modded the car again. When you are all done modding it than it a nice dyno tune and that will optimize all your mods.

I have a buddy that has a nice cougar but doesn't come on the boards that often..

He has a gutted main cat, SRI, and trubendz exhaust.

He got the diablo chip, which seems to dump more fuel because his car afterfires like a firecracker as soon as he lets the TB close. It actually sounds awesome, but I was in it before and after and it make no difference really except that it "sounds" performance.

Skip over the generic chips, IMO they will only ruin your cats faster.

A loooong time ago I ran a PAC chip. It was recommended by a board member. I was never impressed with the chips performance. It made my secondaries open too late which resulted in huge bogging due to the fuel being too rich with not enough air flow (closed secondaries).

The other thing I noticed with the bumped up rev limiter of 7K, it seemed like I would destroy my alternator. Every time I put that chip in, a few months later my alt would go. I know its a common problem, but it was one heck of a coincidence.

For me a chip in the cougar = waste of money + headaches

Please see the FAQ- A chip is a piggyback re-program of the ECU.

Check out getting a tune from blueovalchips.com and buying an Xcalibrator2 programmer to add the tune to your car via Obd 2 hook up.

I originally got my tune and Xcalibrator 2 from ADC but they no longer send out tunes. And yes if your friend is finished adding mods then he should get one of these next because I definitley felt a big improvment in my cars performance and shifting "atx only".

Its not written on their site but they do custom tunes for Ford, Lincoln, Mercury cars under the Xcalibrator 2. Just call them up and tell them what u want done.
