I just recently cleaned my IMRC ... not sure if I did it right but it did the trick ... it's working now. All I did was pull the cover off and spray inside with a can of compressed air you get from a computer shop ... I also took the motor out and put more solder on the connections and spun it with my fingers a bunch of times.
Does anyone have an accual How-To on this or did I do it right?

Also I noticed how hot the IMRC box gets in it's current location ... Is there a How-To on the relocation of the IMRC.

Thanks

Doesn't mean it hasn't happened, but I've never seen anyone relocate it. If you are having trouble with the heat and want to keep it cooler, just remove that plastic cover that says "2.5 Duratec V-6" on it.

I think I've seen relocation pics before, you might want to try searching over on CEG (www.contour.org) or FCO (www.fordcontour.org), they might have more information.

you're suppose to spray the motor with electric motor spray and spin it. However you have a 50/50 chance of it working. If its already gone it wonlt wor..its all in the brushes.

Relocations have been done a few times on CEG, search there.

I did a little searching ... got a few answers and pics ... but nothing real concrete ... so ...

I think I'm gonna just do a How-To myself ... I will take pics of what steps I decide to take and try to be more detailed than previously seen. Doesn't look like a hard mod so why not ... I will PM it to a Mod on the site and let them decide whether to post it up as a How-To.
There is one idea I liked ... locating the IMRC under the battery seen in the link below ... I will try that first and go from there.

bensenvill just relocated his. i forget where he put it though. really if you can find any logical place to put it that is safe, secure and dry there shouldnt be a problem. you could even leave it in the same place and put some kint of insulation between it and the valve cover to help with the heat disappation

Ok, replaced and relocated my IMRC; I put it on the bracket that was holding up my AEM Short Throw Ram Air. Basically I put wires straight down the neck of the intake, then on the empty screw hole, which I think was there from the original air filter, I attached one side of the box, then I used the support bracket that was already there holding the ram air. Now I can drive the car for 3 hours, open the hood and touch the box without burning my hand, in fact, it only gets lukewarm.

PS: I have no engine lag anymore!
