any one know if a flexplate has to be torqued and what the torque is? i bought a used tranny for my 02 xr 2.5 atx and it was not out of an 02, the guy i bought it from said it was but when i got it home noticed different size torque converter. i went back and got the flexplate off the engine that the tranny came off of and now just hoping that the tranny, flex plate, and tc will align with my 02 2.5. i plan on changing out all the sensors on the tranny with the ones off my 02 tranny to eliminate the 1-2 bang shift any comments on the 02 tranny or any other year atx? thanx in advance
I can't give you the torque specs, but I can give you a warning.
If the trans was out of a '99, take it back- Do not pass "Go", do not collect $200. The '99 ATXs had significant differences in their connections (including mechanical versus your car's electrical).
The big tip-off would be differences in the flexplate/torque converter.
And thank you, thank you for not calling it a "flywheel".
As for the bang shift, a fluid flush may help correct the problem... And a huge trans cooler. Stupid slushboxes... :disgust:

so it will not work? i only had a 30 day warrenty and the guy told me it was out of an 02 so by the time i noticed the differences it was too late.
what should i do?
Sell it and buy the right one? It's what I had to do when I made the same mistake...
