Well, the other day i accidentaly put my atx into 2nd w/o knowing it and after that it was nothing but bad. I hit the rev limiter at about 80 and i didnt know what was going on because i had no idea that it was in second. It was on the limiter for probably 2 seconds by the time I realived it wasnt going to shift so i let off the gas loked at the shifter and then put it back into drive. I knew something wasnt right from the get and i coudl hear a slight tap in the engine. pulled right over parked it and popped the hood. Gave it a good while then I started it up againand you could hear the tapping, sounded almost like a belt hitting something but i knew it wast. On the way home it was running good at about 40-50 and couldnt realy hear anything from the engine. Then it happened, a sharp jerk and a cherp. then about 30 seconds later she started running real rough and was making a cherping in drive and a noticeable tapping. felt I would try and play it safe and just have it towed to western auto and see if the idiots down there could tell me what was wrong. they looked at it like a day or two later and basicaly just said its in the engine looks like an engine replacement.....$5,000. :( I saw that coming but it was the last thing i wanted to hear. What do u all think I shoud do buy a standered spec 2.5l duratec or a junkyard special or what. Does Anyone know of a cheap place to find another engine or anything.
