Has anyone here managed to run any aftermarket wiring into the doors? Doesnt matter what size wire to me, I'd just like to know how you did it

Sami's doors are a bit different now as well ;)

I just used the stock wiring into the door. Then aftermarket once inside.

I ran 2 wires in each door, just hid then behind the stock boot so you couldnt see em. But it won't go through the actual boot because it is a plug.

May I ask what you need power in the door for? I could look at the ford diagram and see which circuit is unoccupied, I know there is one that was not included on US spec cougars.

Brian are you trying to add more blue neons to the interior?

Yes you are correct, Every "pin" is occupied, but there are available circuits. There are some features like lighted lock cylinder and lighted door handle that were wired in for Euro spec cougar/mondeo's that we simply dont have so that wiring is up for grabs for you to use. Let me find what pins are available. I have the euro ford manual.

this is a great post, regarless of what he is doing .. i'd love to drop a few LEDs into the doors, behind the handle, to light up the section underneath, and maybe one or two more ... regardless of his application, this information would be great for any purpose.

I found one wire that may be of use. However if you use your lock switch to lock the doors and your key to unlock the doors you are SOL. There is a black with white stripe wire that is used to disarm the factory alarm when you use your key. you could use that wire to run a neon or led or whatever. This post came at a good time because I plan on illuminating my door handles when the 12sec dome light is activated. I have an aftermarket alarm so abandoning this wire is not a problem.

So I've found some very interesting information. Ford lists the SAME wiring harness part number for the four door contour and the cougar! this brings up the question how the heck does the same connector supply power to the rear windows with the same number of pins and wires our two door harness has.

im glad this is something you guys are happy about... and im REALLY intrigued about available circuits... if u can label each of the pinouts and/or what they are for that would do GREAT justice to use modders

After more research the contour has a double plug on the door. I'm going to the junkyard to pickup a door harness HEHE.

Okay after all searching all day I HAVE FOUND IT!!! Pin 17 is occupied then traces to the door lock motor, the doorlock motor does not have the pin occupied so you can use this wire. It is yellow and is located on the doorlock motor harness and is pin 17 inside the car. It is used for the door lock cylinder illumination. Happy wiring!!

Edit* Cut wire from pin 16 yellow wire, blue harness, on the keyless module that way you dont fry anything!!!! I've traced the wire from the door to this point and from the passenger door to this point. I've also tested all the functions and this outputs nothing. so feel free to use this wire for anything you heart desires!!

Already Working on it, as for the lock illumination; not gonna happen. Unless you convert all your locks to the Euro style Tibbe key your not going to see it on a us cougar anytime soon. Plus its nothing special, the lock lights after you exit the vehicle for a said period of time allowing you to set the "double locking" which is where you unlock the doors and lock them with the key to disable the interior switches.

Dude you waited way too long. I kept my door open all day to research more for all you fuggers that want to do the led in the door mod. It did not even occur to me to take pics. TRUST me the yellow wire on the lock solenoid is unoccupied by the lock solenoid. I found it kind of by accident. But the plug on the solenoid itself does not have a pin in the space where the the yellow wire is. Also the wire does not go to any other circuits except the blank spot on the lock solenoid. It comes out of the keyless module and goes to NOTHING. Trust me man I have a spare harness and this wire is TOTALLY available for use.

HAPPY MODDING Y'ALL
