Ok, I've been trying to do some searching the past few days on a bunch of random things and have encountered a problem.

Say I want to search for what needs to be done with an aftermarket exhaust to fit a roush rear. I search for "roush rear exhaust." The problem though is I think the results that I end up getting are every post with the word roush, rear, OR exhaust in it when I want it to be a post that includes all 3 of them. I've tried using AND to link the words as well as quotation marks such as doing "'roush rear' exhaust" but haven't figured it out.

Maybe I am just stupid and don't know how to use the search properly, but I think it would be easier if there could be a button that lets us choose to only give results that include all words or if we could use boolean modifyers to include and exclude words.

And if I really am just messing up the search, let me know so that way I can fix it.

I agree here. Say you wanna look for "Buddy Club 2 kit", you get EVERY thread that has the word "kit" in it. Makes searching much more frustrating.

This was a change on my part for file size difference. The boards are using the Full-Text engine built into MySQL instead of the word index tables provided by vBulletin. By doing this, I was able to shrink the database from a whopping 1.1GB to 720MB. So, you will have to relearn how to search to find your desired results. Until I saw this thread, I didn't give it much thought or test it out compared to the old way. However, after testing it and looking into the issue, I realized that I forgot to activate a feature, which is user group based called "Boolean Search". It allows the Full-Text engine to behave exactly like the native vBulletin search index system.

So, try it now and see if your results change. You can search for specific phrases by using quote marks around phrases and also use boolean logic (AND,OR, NOT) around words & phrases.

Thanks, adding boolean capabilities was just what I wanted. :D
