Ground your amp to a solid metel to metal contact. Shave away any paint. I recommend an oem seat belt bolt.

Hmm...two reccomendations for the rear seat belt bolts. Good idea. Know of any others? Just wondering.

I personally used the OEM ground in the trunk for the taillights.

I've used both. the tail light ground when running my 4 guage ground.

then the for my double 0 guage. I used seat belt bolt and battery

I'm using a rear seat belt bolt. It's close and solid. I've never had any problem with it.

Seat belt bolt, as most professional installers would tell you. Adding you own bolt in there will loosen over time giving you a bad ground.

Honestly, best suggestion is to gently sand a small spot behind carpet / trim and drill / tap a new screw directly to the metal frame. You now have a dedicated ground, tighten it down and don't worry about other things loosening it off. Use your brain and don't drill into like the gas tank or something though!

Hmm...I like the seat belt idea but I think my installer (who's a friend of mine who owns a car audio shop) is gonna make a place for the ground on the frame. I've got some pretty powerful subwoofers, so I hope he uses lock-tite or something haha

My cougar has these two black metal rings sticking into the trunk from the back, if you pop off that plastic cover they're really easy to get to, I sanded the paint down until i got to bare metal and grounded there.

Hey yeah, mine has those too. I never even thought of that...and if the ground wire is long enough, he could run it right behind the panel and use the back of one of those things. You're sure it leads to bare metal of the car? That's a definite possibility. Thanks!

No, it's painted. Like I said ... you have to sand it down. Also you want your ground wire to be very short, as short as you can possibly have it.

I've got mine grounded from the rear battery directly to the floor of the spare-tire well. Simply drill a hole, and use an eyelet along with a nut and bolt. Just be sure to sand where ever you end up grounding, even if it looks like bare metal, just to be sure.

If you go the nut and bolt route, Please use a lock nut and washer!!!
