schweeet! got it all done... a quick call to JAMallot got my tie rod off and got me going again...

took me from 12:30 - 6:00 to replace the alt and serp belt... looking back... it wasnt that hard, it was just tedious... and of course, now that I've done it I could do it in much less time next time the need arises... oif anyone needs help with this feel free to get at me!

100% not worth doing it yourself... it took 3 people like 6 hrs to do bluestreaks a while back but congrats on pullin it off

It's not that bad. Puck puck and I did mine in about an hour. We even went one step further and disected a couple alternators and learned about the guts and rebuilt a good one from a couple "bad" ones. They're very simple.

so your saying you would rather pay even more money for someone to do it for you so you can have your car on the road for a few more hours?

IMO i would rather do all the work i can on my own car just for the experience.

i did mine last year on the street with jackstands in about 3.5 hrs, that's excluding beer and smoke breaks, 6 hrs is not unreasonable, good job man. How did you like the 18+"'s of extensions  what a pain in the ass... i actually think mine is getting ready to go again, i may need a new battery but anyway good job

bah,
its worth it. cheapert to do it yourself, getting dirty is fun and if you have luck like mine it'll ruin your easter weekend and force you to take a day off work to replace it. its really not that hard as long as you have pleny 'O' extensions.

+1 for scrup ... i did mine ... what a pain in the arse! kinda reminds me of the time when coogah got naked and started ripping out his engine to do all sorts of crazy things to it. but besides the point, what a pain in the balls. Took me a total of like 8 hours by myself ...
ATX = bad news ... oh and if you don't have a swivel for the socket ... your in it as hot as two mice turning butter in a wool sock.

Hahaha! Funny you said that, I hold the record for the fastest alternator swap.. I did Brad's in like 10 mins when his engine was on the hoist. hehehe.
