Well, for my first time racing, I don't think I did too bad... A friend heard about me getting a cougar (it's still stock) and asked me if I wanted to race his Jetta. I asked him what was done to it and he said just an intake so I thought, "Hey, maybe I have a chance." So I get to this one road, he pulls out from a side road, and we start goin and I'm shiftin at around 4 and at second he's kinda behind me a little then I hit third and he just FLIES right past me... I'm about 3 seconds behind him and we get to this big stone driveway and stop and we both get out and he's laughin his ass off. He lifts up his hood and it turns out he has a turbo...."Sorry, I guess I uh, 'forgot' to mention that part." Him being the nice guy he is did apologize and didn't take me up on the bet we made (it wasn't money haha I'm not THAT full of myself...yet); but overall I don't think I did too bad for my first time.

Shift a little closer to 7 and it won't turn out like that. Oh, well!

**** at 6750. even though your cams stop building power at 6250. another interesting thing, the more gas you give it when u let the clutch out while racing is that much farther ahead:)....but be savorful of your poor differential.

yeah shifting later would help a TON, because if you shift at 4 your secondaries barely open...so yeah 6250 is ideal like the others said.

Do not get to used to shifting around the 7,000 mark though, or your car will end up in the trans shop...much like mine is right now :(

Either way, you should be able to keep up with the Jetta, may not beat it, but he will not fly by next time.

I completely agree i came from a Mx6 5speed... I had assumed id have it down in a week. It took me like a month in a half before i was confident to race. And yes it IS an extention or yourself...How many people you know Rev instead honking the horn in some cases.....People tend to think your a lil more crazy when you rev them verses the horn...
