Rear Ford Badges

Any body buy the Euro Emblem kit and NOT want their deck lid emblem? That's the only part I want to change. I love the Cougar head on the front grill, but HATE the damn Merc emblem on the rear. That's the only emblem I want on the back, I just took the Cougar and V6 off tonite and I love it already. Looks 100% better...except for the Merc hockey stick emblem.

I don't think the ford badge will completly cover the holes from the Merc logo...will it?

From what I've read it is supposed to be a direct fit. ChromaCougar would know for sure
It would make sense that it would fit US cars and Euro cars. Why have 2 different logo mounting procedures for the same car? But I don't know for sure

Go to your local dealer and order part # F8RZ 8213 KA (came straight off the box for the emblem), this is the badge that is a direct replacement, the holes and the prongs on this badge match up since this is the badge used on the Euro-Cougar. It is around $10. I bought it, just haven't had a chance to put it on, but Bobnoxious gave me the info originaly and he has the badges on his car.

To take off the Cougar and V6 lettering, all I did was get some dental floss and work it behind each of the letters moving back and forth in a sawing motion. Then I used Goo Gone and a rag to remove the foam tape left behind. Then wash the area down with soap/water and then wax it.

Looks 100% better

What I want to know is how to you get the Merc badge off the rear

Yes, the Ford badge is a direct fit replacement for the Merc emblem according to ChromaCougar, and he should know. He's using them and was responsible for thelast "group buy" on them.

you remove the Mercury badge in the same manner... but I found that it works best with another person to help.... one person take a blow dryer and heats up the emblem on the hottest setting while you saw through the tape in the back of it... once its gone you are left with 3 holes and lots of black sticky crap that you need to remove... use WD40 or a goo cleaner and lots of elbow grease... The Ford badge fits in perfectly, you just peel off the tape and stick the 3 prongs into the 3 holes you have on your rear..... i/expressions/devil.gif
