Yea the title says it all. Sorry I dont have pics up yet, but my life has been a tad busy and miserable the last few days.
Let me tell the long detailed story because before that, my dad and I both won our respective car show categories at the Loudenville car show.
Okay Saturday morning, I woke up with dad at about 6 am to finish getting our newly restored 55 Ford prepped for the show along with my Cougar which I didnt know I was taking until Friday night when I realized the rubbing noise was simply loose lug nuts... Okay Im not that smart I know and I need to losen up and bit and not rush around so much anymore.....
So we got to the show with 486 cars total showing, including Model T's all the way up to a Ford Lightning full drag truck, w/ parichute etc.
Well I showed dad how to prep and went over a few things with him as we prepped his car for the show and Kim worked on my interior since I hadnt even cleaned it last year at the end of the season, and as we finished with dads car she continued to clean the windows etc. and basically did everything besides cleaning the wheels and the engine, which I later did myself.
Well the awards came around and Dads first car show having the car back only 2 weeks, he won the Best in his category which was all cars from 1950-1975 so with what I saw, well over 300 cars total from those years in the car division, which is a nice little category to win,
As he walked away from the award stand to show our new body man/restoration man, the award he looks at me and goes, I think you won too... Well I didnt want to like walk up and ask so I waited til it was all over and people started leaving and went up, and sure enough I won the most modified car in the entire show!!   Yeah and I hadnt even had it tuned for the summer yet, and didnt get to purge on any of the passerby's lol.
So basically dad and I took 2 of about 12 plaques, which I would say is a nice turnout.
Okay now comes the fun stuff... well actually the life changing event from he**
Ok the way to lake erie, kim and I were traveling about 55 mph on a back country outside of Willard, when I saw a large box truck coming west and turning south, as we headed north, and a honda accord approached from the east, both stopping as we had no stop sign so we continued to drive at that speed about 1/2 mile down the road. Well the box truck turned south and then all hell broke loose, the honda began to cross the road at a snails pass and I began yelling at kim to grab something and began to lock up my brakes as I couldnt get over due to the box truck heading right at us. As soon as we cleared the box truck I swirved to the southbound lane and the accord clipped my front tire or passenger fender, then continuing to hit my rear wheel and send us onto 2 wheels and the beginning of the end. We were on two wheels and I attempted to correct and set it down, but instead we continued breaking and lost more control, as we began driving down a hill into a lima bean field I grabbed Kim and we hit driverside front tire into the field, and flipped tail over hood, and then began rolling nascar style, 6-7 times as the witnesses stated.
Once we went down the hill I grabbed kim, and began thinking this was going to be kool, until after the first flip before the rolls I realized usually you dont live through this..... So then it became a matter of what do I do next?? Well I didnt blackout at all through the rolling, but have no idea how many times due to closing the eyes for protection from the glass and debris, but Kim ended up getting the worst of it. As soon as we landed on our tires I began yelling to get out....
Well she didnt have shoes on and didnt want to crawl across glass as I continued yelling, so I reached across and grabbed and pulled her out, carrying her to the road which seemed like 30 yrds away, in reality it was 10 yrds tops.... But it seemed like an eternity.
Once we got there all that went through my mind was my truck was going to explode, thank God it didnt, because we were stillclose enough for shrapnel etc.
Well to make a long story longer, we were both taken by seperate ambulances to the hospital and I received 8 stitches in my hand and glass cuts all over, along with bruising. They took about 15 X rays and was looked at by 2 Docs.
As I said Kim wasnt so lucky, she had cerebal concussion, a hairline fracture of the hip, and her femur ball and hip joint has some sever fragments and internal bruising. Her neck is messed up and she has cuts all through her feet.
Basically I guess the biggest thing is, WEAR YOUR Fing SEAT BELTS!! :banghead: I know I had stopped wearing it all the time, and only put it on when I felt I needed to, well guess what, that all stopped.
That seatbelt saved our lives and I know 100% we would both be dead if we didnt have it on. When I say that, I mean personally we probably shouldve died anyways, but the seatbelt saved us.
I have printed pics and pics/video on my cell, but I probably wont get time to post any so I will be sure to bring them the next time we get together.
I already know for sure that I will be a Ford/Mercury man for the rest of my life and never own anything else because when you all see what that truck went through and how that cab stood up, you would/will be too. I cant explain what my truck looked like, but lets say someone took it and put it into a great big vice and crushed the roof, doors, and hood all into one. Then took the frame and twisted it so that the front tires point right and the rears face left, along with dropping my rear drive line out from the engine back, my exhaust, oil all over, and just thanking God there wasnt a fire since the electirc was still on when we got done rolling.
Anyways, if you know someone like I do who wont wear a seatbelt, let me know, Ill show them pics and Id say they will wear it after that.
So lets see, reacap, dad and I won two divisions of car show, Kim and I flipped/rolled my truck 6-7 times(yes its totaled and both bags diployed), I did not and still havent drank my coors light I wanted to sat night, we never made it to the lake, spent the last 2 nights in the ER, and lastly,
It was the kids 2nd wreck in 30 days!!! Yeah didnt mention that did I?? You think I shouldve kicked his A@@?? Cuz I wish now I wouldve.
Please pray for us, cuz I have no idea what the next few weeks hold in store, I got a 4 dar, red sebring as a rental..... Not cool.
