Went to Great Lakes Dragaway today.. WOW That is sooooooo fun.. the best $11 I ever spent!! I lost every race but it was still VERY VERY FUN!!!

My reaction times are VERY BAD tho... i'll have to launch a lot earlier tomorrow when i'm there again.

I raced:
* A firebird ......... didnt stand a chance
* Some 3-series bmw .. if i wouldn't have had to abort my launch because of wheel hop I would have been dead even (or faster) with him because i started pulling on him near the end after i relaunched.
* F-150 lightning .... I enjoyed losing to this beautiful truck
* Chevy Astro ........ no comment.
* An 80's mustang .... it looked slow i/expressions/frown.gif
* My friend dave's Eagle Talon TSi . I had the jump until 16 psi of turbo kicked in.

I hope to god my reaction is a lot better tomorrow... I'll have video of tomorrow's runs!

Here are my timeslips:

The track's computer was down about half the day.. So some of the cars on my list up there weren't timed races... Also, the first 2 timeslips have some erroneous errors (like the 1000 foot time) because thier computer wasn't fully 'calibrated' yet.

VERY FUN DAY!

I'm swapping wheels with stm963 tonight (using his 16's tomorrow) so hopefully the smaller wheels will help me get slightly better times..

I ran the front tires at about 22 psi and the rears at 40.

the 16" tires should help a little....try running them as low as 18-20PSI and see how that affects your launches....i would say from a sea level track you should slip the clutch from around 3200 RPM or so...maybe a tad higher....i have to do it at 4200 RPM cuz of the higher altitude...if i dont do it that high, then the RPM's fall below the second cam and the acceleration sucks until it gets back into the second cam....

You ran a 15.96 in an automatic with just a KKM and Borla? That's very encouraging to this fellow ATXer! i/expressions/smile.gif

I'm curious. If you recall, how did you launch, and what RPM's did you shift at (or did you just let it shift on its own)? Because whatever you did, you did right.

chezter - you wanna dump your clutch at 4k? geeeez, how u keeping the ****ting differential from snapping? i do maybe 2.5k, thats it... too scared to do more... maybe thats why i only get 15.6s with my current mods...

99redse - i'm doing 15.58 with KKM and Yodude exhaust... doing 3700-4000 RPM drops... and i do this constantly... the tranny holds up real well like this....

Am I the only one surprised that an ATX Cougar broke into the 15s?

I was launching at between 3500-4000.. not exacltly dropping it but not exactly slipping it either...

Yeah,

I dont DUMP the clutch either, but more or less a easing the clutch out about 75% or so, then letting it all the way out when the wheels hook up...more than likely i will have to adjust this for when i go to a lower elevation track.....

Nick,

your Zn is still stock right? if it is, that 15.96 is pretty good....try to get it into the high 15.8's stock and that will be great!!!!!

yeah same here on dropping/slipping the clutch kinda a combo of both....

Chezterr if you wanna help lower your times i dunno how beneficial it would be... get an autotap (bout 200$) and get a cheap used laptop off ebay (about 100-150$) now log RPM, MPH, and Intake Air Temp, as well as time.... record each run and attach the timeslip to each run (using a good naming scheme)... when you are all done, graph all the autotap runs and compare to your timeslips... now you should be seeing some type of trends and where you are really fast and what style driving nets you the best time... i'm seriously looking into doing this.
