I need to break in the new engine and was wondering if running the engine rich would cause any damage to any components. I got 24# injectors no secondaries and a stock ECU, so lets just say its running a little funky.
Someone mentioned today that running rich could burn a whole in the pistons, but I thought that only happened if you are running lean. I am also getting back fire every so often. Also does it hurt the valves to run the engine with only headers and y-pipe? Thanks for the help.

whole? hole.
Get it tuned, you really can't keep it that way. No backpressure=bent valves.. I mean.. not in like 50 miles but long term you need to get this stuff fixed.

oops... yeah a whole hole. Its late.
I need to run it for what 500 miles so I can get the clevite rod bearings broke in. I plan on jumping on the highway for those 500 miles. Hopefully I can get it done in a couple days. I just want to make sure that I don't cause any problems during that time.

If you have a new clutch highway miles are not going to break it in.
