Hello everyone.... I hope that everyone is registered for CF and the caravan (remeber you have to register for these separately)
what are we gonna do about how to get there? i know that this has been brought up several times before... but if we wanna do the carferry thing i need to make the reservations like yesterday!
so PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE post what you wanna do ... we can go with the majority i/expressions/smile.gif
the only reason i am asking is (like i said b4) if we are gonna take the carferry ... i NEED to make the reservations i/expressions/smile.gif
thanks!

hey jen whats the stats for both??
cost, mileage, time leaving, time of arrival, time total, and the cities we'd be going through or around.
the carferry may save some miles, but what kind of roads are we going to be traveling on? i'd rather drive through chicago than detroit. i/expressions/wink.gif (maybe we don't go through detroit i haven't looked at a map yet.)
but i think info should be brought up for both.
personally i liked our trip from last year. PLUS this year, we can go with the ILNECO peeps. i think last year we didn't meet up with ilneco is cuz of eric williams. hahahahahaha (sorry ilneco) hehe.
maybe we could get a mapquest map for driving directions both starting in the same place. taking both routes. and ending at the factory.
what place should we use for a starting point. i'd say between milwaukee and appleton. so... how about MARKESAN. i/expressions/wink.gif hehe.

for ppl in my area (basically me) it would be less milage and about the same travel time ... for everyone else it would be longer travel time and about the same milage (if i remeber correctly )
if we drive that is fine with me.... one thing to consider is the size of the grp we will have! We should possilbly think of "groups" so you know what cars you need to stick with in case of separation. as far as i am concerned the earlier the better... if i am road tripin' it ... i am leaving at like 4am .... i don't want to hit rush hour (if possible) and i wanna drive during daylite hours ....so those are my thoughts...
road tripin' will be cheaper....

what are the mileage and hours numbers jenni? that's basically what i was asking. i think people would be interested in seeing the numbers.
caravaning
vs.
carferrying
hehe.
do you know of any construction in either of the travels?

I WILL DO IT!!!!
Milwaukee to Manitowoc: 80 miles/1 1/2 hours
Chicago to Manitowoc: 172 milse/3 hours
Ferry time: ???
Ludington, MI to Flat Rock: 261 miles/4 1/2 hours
TOTAL: Milwaukee: 341 miles/6 hours + ferry time
Chicago: 433miles/7 1/2 hours + ferry time
Chicago to Flat Rock: 273 miles/ 4 1/2 hours
Since Milwaukee is close to the IL border it will be shorter time/miles for most WI NECO people. But for most IL NECO people, this will require another day of traveling time. I did tell IL NECO can join you guys. I dont' know if anyone is interested though.

You guys should meet up with us, we wanted to leave early too Jenni.
Last year I left at 4am, I didn't go with the IL group because of Eric W too!!! i/expressions/laugh.gif He never could tell me exactly where and when to meet up with them!

I personally would like to caravan both ways..... but I am still interested in hearing all the numbers.... if you can prove to me that the ferry is the better route to go I will be happy to do that... i/expressions/devil.gif

that's just it ... the ferry is really not gonna save mileage and time ... that is what i have been trying to say!

what this boils down to is where you live. If you live in madison or milwaukee its shorter and quicker to drive the whole way. If you live in the great white north the ferry is a better option. Personally I would much rather drive it cause I don't really gain anything because I live in madison.

*chanting* DRIVIN' DRIVIN' DRIVIN' DRIVIN'
hehe. i think a 70 car caravan to cougfest is definately the way to go.
i know i exagerated a little tiny bit. but oh well. i/expressions/smile.gif it could be 3 cars... and it'd still be fun as hell. i/expressions/smile.gif
ferry
i dont give a **** about miles or time
whats important is that i'm never gonna take a ferry again so its a once in a lifetime thing

Can someone please find out the cost of the ferry again... that will be my final deciding item.... i/expressions/devil.gif
How much gas does everyone think it would take one way of driving?
1 tank or 2?

there is always the option of splitting into groups and some can take the ferry and some can drive ????

what about if we do not have 20 paying customers? then what is the fare????? I really think that 20 will be hard to get unless we ALL go...

My point about the ferry is that we don't have to spend the entire time driving. We can spend some time just sittin back and shooting the shiznit. I don't have to much of an opinion either way, I just know that I don't like to spend 4-8 hours straight in a car. i/expressions/indifferent.gif
good point scott, i agree
wait no i dont!!
'wah wah wah its a couple more miles and a lot more time wah wah wah im a whiney baby wah wah wah! what i fail to realize because i'm an ignorant fool is that its not more time spent in my car! i can walk all around this boat, sit in its lounge areas or restaurant, sit on deck, and hang out with fellow cougar people! but since i am an ignorant fool i will not acknowledge all that!!'
nope, changed my mind again
definitely the ferry

what will we run into if we take the ferry? like... what are we going to drive through in michigan? what kinda cities? what kinda highways?
anybody ever search that? is Hell Michigan on the way?
i just wanna know what's going to be in our way if we take that route... mountains? floods? herds of antelope? quicksand? barrels of monkeys? what? i/expressions/smile.gif
there will be a barrel of monkeys on the side of the road every 1/2 mile.

of COURSE! that's what i was afraid of. thanks for the warning nick. i will now mod my spacecraft with anti-monkey weaponry.
it was this exact type of problem i was worried about jen. i'm glad someone knew ahead of time so that we had time to prepare.
