I'll be upgrading my alternator to a 200 Amp output one, and also be doing the big three ... or atleast replacing most my lines ... not sure what i'm going to do as far as the voltage readout yet ... i might keep it stock more or less and see what happens.
i'll going to try to add pictures to scrups how to, maybe give some newbs a hint towards what the big 3 is exactly, scrup style =)

ok well heres the deal ... i did the replacement ... no camera ... took me all of probably 10-15 hours total, which i had broken up between a number of days for sleep and work reasons ... i did not touch the voltage regulator, however i did upgrade to a 2 ga. wire from the alt. to the battery, and left starter lines as they are ... i also upgraded the ground ...
i have a full functioning cougar, with absolutely no blinking or dimming lights what so ever. i can't wait to drop a juice sucking system in and see if it does it then =)

I had a huge problem getting the upgraded wire on the top of the Alt. Where did you run the wire? I am having a hard time figuring that out cuz I dont wanna get to close to the exhaust.

lol but then you also dind't see the next post ... no pics cause no camera was found at the time of initiation ...
as for the wire, me and scrup will tell you two ways ... i ran mine up, pretty much were the stock one went up ... which is towards the rear center of the engine bay. it was a pain in the ass to get the wire on the bolt in the right direction (on the alternator). I wanted to keep the wire away from the belt, and don't see where it would come into contact with the exhaust (i understand the precat, but you should be able to avoid that, follow the voltage reg. line a little while and you'll see what i'm saying)
then when i got to the top, i went around on top of the bay so i could keep an eye on the wire at all times. hope this helps. and i didn't replace my voltage reg. wire, and i only have slight dimming with the system all the way up, ac running, lights including brights on, and my hand on the window switch ;-) although i bet the 2,000 watts i'm gonna be pulling for my new system might do the trick =)
