Picked up some gauges and I was wondering where is the best place to install the oil pressure sender for the electric oil pressure gauge. I heard there is a place under neath the throttle body, off the head, but is this the best place?

If you do a search, you'll find the posts about it. I just did this a couple weeks ago.

Supposedly the most accurate place is on the front bank, to the left of the oil filter as you are looking at it. To put it there you have to remove the AC compressor (I think). I installed mine at the rear head...much easier :) I'll move it when I have a chance to tear it down.

this is where it was installed, which is the easiest place to install it. some say its not the most accurate place for a reading but without taking the a/c compressor off its deffinetly the easiest.

you can see in the pic its to the bottom right of the throttle body.

Hey Funkboy,
What fittings did you use? I put mine in but it wouldnt fit so i had to get a 90 degree elbow and put it facing up towards the firewall.

no fittings, it fit in just right.

that area is accurate. I've had it hooked up in all the possible places, and that one gets first response. believe it or not..

michcougar is right, the sender will not fit a 99, without using an elbow. The PCV hose assembly is in the way. They must have changed things a little on the 02's, pic shows a different PCV hose line setup than on my 99. I'm heading out now to find some elbows.
I dropped the plug I took out to see if the sender would fit, and could not find it. :( Cougar was stranded.  Hint to everyone: Keep your old factory oil pressure sensors, I could not find a plug so I had an old oil sensor that would fit so I put that in place of the lost plug, and slapped my cougar back together to find an elbow so that I can install my Autometer gauges

ah i never thought about it not fitting because of that. i know the PCV is deffinetly different on the 01-02 models.

Well i mean not EVERY sensor is going to fit every motor. Normally they send you adapters. I had to use an adapter with my autometer C2 oil gauge. But its also electric and the sensor is way smaller...

Mine is a 99 and fit perfect with no adapters

MIne sensor doens't look anything like that. Mine is basically like a small can, about 2" tall and 2"dia. at base. Goldish bronze in color

wadespenser99,
On your 99 is it a return or returnless fuel system?

And use locktite on the fittings...lol
learned the hardway, had a puddle of oil on the top of my transmission.
Took it apart and slaped some locktite on there and its sealed now!

That doesnt matter. All they changed was the fuel system not the heads.

No don't use locktit. Its called Teflon paste or tape.

yeah, but the fuel lines for a return style are also near the pcv area on my cougar

buddy at the hardware store told me teflon tape or paste is not good with oil...oil will eat away at it.
But locktite has been good now for about 6 months...

You can get oil resistant Teflon paste.

Yes the fuel lines are near the PCV valve. If it doesn't fit your just going to have to install some angles.

the sensor that mond posted is the one that comes with the c2 gauges. the other autometer gauges come with the sensor that you have. at least i have never seen any other autometer gauges with the new sensor other than the C2.

Well it is more of what the gauge does and not the series. That sensor is for full sweep 0-100 psi and electric.

But back on topic to help you, Your just going to have to make some angles with some fittings to make it work.

the sender he has is electric also 0-100 psi oil pressure.

mechanical oil gauges dont have senders, cause well, their mechanical.
