i did some searching and i didnt find nothing that directly related on how to install the tranny and torque converter ...sorrry if i didnt miss something on it

pretty soon im gonna be bolting up my atx to my 3L and i was reading the Ford CD and the instructions arnt making much sense.......
"The torque converter hub must engage fully in the oil pump drive gear.
Check the installation depth of the torque converter.
Lay a suitable straightedge on the automatic transaxle flange.
Check the installation depth between the transaxle flange and the torque converter centering spigot for the correct clearance.
Apply a thin layer of high-temperature grease to the centering spigot bore on the torque converter."

So do slide the convertor onto the tranny untill it engages fully and then when i go to bolt the tranny up to the motor, make sure the T/C studs go through the flywheel ?????

or should i bolt the T/C to the motor first????

And whats the Centering spigot that i have to apply a think layer of grease to ??

Im just wondering how you guys installed it and if you knwo an easy way

Sorry if they are dumb question but im not the brightest star in the sky:cover:

Thanks
Erik

Normally the torque Converter is placed onto the tranny first, where it needs to be fully pushed into place on the input shaft...the centering bore is probably the middle hole of the T/C that slides over the input shaft...

You then will have to bolt the transmission up to the motor, line up the first hole on the flywheel with one on the T/C, then install a bolt into the flywheel side to the T/C through the access hole between the tranny and motor...
Spin the flywheel gradually to access each remaining bolt holes and complete installing the last of the bolts for the T/C and flywheel...

That's the best I can do for you...hope it helps!
