my old atx tranny which has had a cracked casing and a stuck valve body for about 2 years now has finallyhit 100,000 miles and im about to replace it. Im getting 1 from the junkyard with 45,000 miles on it for 650. A few questions b4 i purchase

1. my car is a 99 and the new tranny is an 02 and they said that i need to know the numbers off my tranny to make sure they match b4 I could do the switch, is this true?
2. im planning on switching out the solenoids in the new 1 for some better ones just so that i dont have the same problem again. Any idea on where i can get some better ones
how hard are they to chnage
are there any other internal parts that i should consider changing too.

thanks

The tranny should be the same for all years '99-'02...

Don't know if you could get better valve bodies, unless LEVEL 10 is the only place to get an upgraded valve body??? Do a Search on Level 10...

WILL NOT WORK!

99 spedo gear is located in a different spot that a 2000+ CD4E ... just ask Marry ;)

What is your build date? I THINK that the spedo sensor change occured mid-year and might only affect late model 99's. Bill Jenkins can confirm this with a parts lookup.
