109,000 mi on body with second engine, blew the first with nitrous. New engine had around 58,000mi when installed.

Replaced the clutch disk when I swapped engines. Other than that, just plugs and wires. I think I've replace the fuel filter twice, I need to do that again soon. I'm even still using the stock wipers. I don't push the car hard anymore though, because of gas prices.

Seems to me I'm lucky that all my breakdowns were self inflicted so that way the car doesn't deside to break down on it's own.;)

I am the first owner, but I bought it used. Guess how that happened

The car is a 99 with 53xxx miles on it, I don't drive it much except on the weekends when nothing is being done to it. I've blown the engine within 1 week of owning it and I bought some extended warranty for like $200 and they replaced it with a brand new engine. I've also blown up my stock differential about 2 years ago and that shredded my transmission to pieces so I bought a 2002 Tranny with 10k miles and upgraded to a SPEC stage 3 clutch, Fidanza Flywheel, uprated shift towers with ball bearings. Surprisingly I have not changed out my alternator yet.

I usually treat my Cougar very good, and I never plan on selling her, so I'll be around for a long time with her ;)

It was a corporate vehicle... some lucky bastard had this as there business vehicle when it was brand new. Good thing though, because it came with every option availible except the ATX, which is the reason I bought it  Fully loaded, low miles and well maintained

Very first post for a new member, and just want to say thanks to a lot of you here and those out in the other Forum sections, a lot of the info found here is greatly appreciated, with that said:
01 cougar zetec, bought new in july of 2002 on sale
laser red
mtx, learned while driving off the lot
about 85k miles, replaced tires, sparks,
fuel pump due to recall
and needed some more work soon
oh and 3 oil dipsticks, for some reason they tend to break off while in the dipstick housing, anyone else have the problem where it's too long?

Welcome to the boards Yea Good thing you got the Zetec & not the V6 because it's cheaper to fix & to mod yourself. Yea My dipstick broke also in the housing, I bought an Aluminum Dipstick  Now the bastards have to be nice to it or they'll get burnt! If you need help or ideas with the cougar we can help out, I can also lend a helping hand since your in S.A. Do you have any pics of your cat?

Don't have any good pics currently, someone kicked in my rear qtr panel and keyed it right after i got it repaired from an accident and since then, it's been like an ugly rash that everyone notices. I'll work on pics soon but this is all new to me, I'll probably end up posting a bad attachment or something.

Man, you guys need to get out and drive.

My '99 ATX is clockin' 162,090

No mods
- 1 alternator
- tranny's about fall out
still kickin!

I'm planning on droppin' in a used tranny to hopefully cross the 200K mark. I'm also in the market for a project car (or one that's already started)to work on while I run this one to the grave.

Can anyone beat it?
