Ok, so as I stated in my post earlier...here (http://newcougar.org/forums/showthread.php?t=95701&page=4).

I went to go pick the car up today...the guy said that the I had a fuse burn out, and that was the reason the key programmer wouldn't work (turned out to be 20 amp fuse #9). The guy said that their was a short in my speed sensor, and that's what caused the fuse to blow...so he disconnected the speed sensor and said it would work fine. So then I went to start it up, and viola...it started, and it stayed on for about 3 seconds at a time then would die, and it did that about 5 times...then when I went to start it the sixth time, nothing would happen, as if I had a dummy key in it or something. So I looked in at the fuses and noticed that the same fuse (#9) blew again...and I don't know what it could be...any thoughts?

I'm having the electrical guy look at it again tomorrow morning...but I was just wondering if you guys had any insight on this. Thanks.

Fuse #9, the PCM fuse? Yeah...

I'm familiar with fuse #9. PCM fuse to the PCM relay. I haven't had a chance to get back to working on the 'Tour for a week now, so I'm sitting with all of the load devices off of the PCM relay disconnected, and waiting to start tracing the harness.
If disconnecting the VSS really helped, then maybe it's not the VSS itself but the harness/connector and disconnecting it just moved the wires enough to keep them from touching and shorting out. I'd check that first.

Well, I think I know exactly what the problem is...and excuse my ignorance, but the sensor that attatches to top of the transmission, directly above the diff., it seemed to have frayed wires, but I connected it anyway...and since I was in such a pissed off mood yesterday, I forgot to even think about that being the problem...the schematic shows that fuse #9 connects to that, so I'll disconnect it and try to get it to run for a little bit on monday. I have drill this weekend and can't work on it at all.
