I have some questions about the cougar 1999+

1) Can i make that damn FWD into RWD or AWD (how damn expensive)
2) Can a stock 2.5L V6 MTX beat a stock Honda Civic
3) Are they good drifters
4) Where the hell do i get the Ford Cougars with 3.0L 200hp ect
5) What kind of engines can i put in the car (toyotas other brands and stuff)

I love cougars... but ive read and heard that there slow :(
I wanna own one but I need the truth so I might as well ask the professionals :)

I need a fast enough car to burn all these damn street racers here (wanna bes who go and put rims, bodykits, exausts, spoilers on their ****vics and ****egras and think theyre fast)

1.) Sure. Lots.
2.) Which one?
3.) They're the best FWD drifter you can buy.
4.) You can't buy one, but you can make your own.
5.) You can put one make of engine in it. FORD.

Good luck.

Are you freaking kidding me? Even the Si only has 139 lb-ft of torque. What's that going to do? And if you're talking about the 1.8L? 113 hp and 109 lb-ft of torque?

F&F3... I dont even wanna see that movie. it seems like a disgrace and id rather waste/save $8.00 on something else than a ticket to see that movie. I've been into drifting and have done it before since i started watching Initial D.

But is the cougar a good drifter if you learn to use it and know what your doing?

it's a car that's designed to drive down the road like a normal car. I'm sure you could do whatever you want to it to make it into something else.

If ya want to drift you should start with a RWD vehicle.

I can tell you with absolute certainty that a stock 2.5L V6 MTX can beat a stock 1978 Honda Civic CVCC

 I have no idea how good or bad I am at drifting. And I never will. Because drifting means you're going slow.

Set up an intricate road course, have two drivers race it, one drifting, one driving. I guarantee the driver will beat the drifter EVERY time.

Drifting is the epitome of being a ricer. ESPECIALLY with a FWD car.

cmon.. its so cool to burn out a setof tires every other lap:crazy:

i saw this tv show last night called master of champions and they had this guy and girl both drift around a 2' diameter table with a wheel of cheese on it... the object was to get the mounted cheese grater to remove the most cheese in 45 seconds... was pretty cool till the guy went second and caught his car on fire b/c the greese from the melted cheese...

the best part was that piece of trash axsana bayoul was one of the judges

Upon first reading I thought this thread was a joke.

To get a good feel for how well the cougar drifts, I would first recommend you get it to about 100-120 range. Then, find a sharp(er) turn with a recommended 25-35 speed limit. Start on the outside of the turn and try to end inside. See if you don't die. If you live, its a good drifter. Rule of thumb

The Cougars are pretty good Drifters for being FF cars. Ive done it alot with a few of my friends and i keep up with their imports and their RWD cars. So if your asking if cougars are good at drifting, yes...with some modifications. Get way stronger suspension, i have alot of tire tread on the inside of my wheel well because of having stock suspension. Good Luck, and the RWD conversion will cost you a VERY shiny penny.

It appears to be a documentary on how to make a video where it is impossible to tell what exactly is going on. All I could tell was there were Germans driving a Cougar. I'm also pretty sure I saw the speedometer snap from 0 to 40mph in about 0.1 seconds at one point.

Honostly, I just feel a little confused right now.

Your best bet is going to be calling an insurance company and getting a quote....insurance rates are different for everybody

It's less than liability on a 1990 Ford Exploder with only driver's side airbags.

Call different insurance companies to find out. Rates will differ pending on your place of residence and miles travelled.

There's no such thing as drifing in FWD. Period.

Sorry.

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-3765846415529031890&q=formula+d+drift

Nothing you see in that video is truly possible with an FWD car, because an FWD car has no way of putting too much spin and power to the rear wheels to keep them from regaining traction, and the front wheels do not freely spin because in an FWD car they are drive wheels.

I really don't see the cougar as a good drift car... i don't understand y u'd want to make it into a rwd, awd makes sense though. of course, since you got a ford vehicle, ford engines fit... but u could make other ones fit- for a price

Yeah, we meet up every so often. Welcome to NECO Im Andrew, people call me Drew. We last had a meet in February down in San Diego. We went to Dave and Busters in mission valley then to Qualcomm stadium for Hot import nights where joe (nuty1der here on the forums) won best in class. We then celebrated the victory the rest of the evening. Since then we haven't had any official meets but whenever the norcal guys come down we get something going. Just check the So-Cal subforums here to see if anything is going on.

You don't drift FWD cars, you "Slide" them. And if you value your wheels (and I mean your car, not just the rubber things that make contact to the ground) you wouldn't do it.

Welcome to Neco

No. But sometimes people refer to their vehicles as wheels. ;) "Nice set of wheels you got."
