Last night a nasty storm rolled through northern Ohio. I'm not quite sure how far south it went, but it hit Norwalk (my home town) and Monroeville (town i work in) pretty hard. Power went out twice at work last night and it surged a few times as well. The cops had blocked off the front entrance because on one side the road had flooded over and on the other side the road was also flooded over and a propane tank had got knocked over. That back way was also flooded. A cop tried taking his cruiser through it and said that the water was coming in his doors. Good thing i've got my truck, i'll get out one way or another:evil:
Norwalk got hit pretty bad. The resevoir spillway was letting all kinds of water out. But unfortuneatly the rivers and creeks and ditches around here aren't big enough to flow all that water. Plus a lot of Norwalk sits in a valley. And the main river that flows from the spillway goes right down the middle of the valley. So it pretty much flooded it.
The last time Norwalk was flooded like this was back in 1969 i believe. Part of the resevoir banks broke open and let out a ton of water. The flooding during that time was much worse than it was today. Which is why they built the spillway. To help keep the water levels under control.
I drove around town all morning long and took a bunch of pics of most of the flooding. I've got a little over 20 pics and a small vid of the spillway which i'll upload at a different time.

Nothing that drastic down here, but we had lost power at my work around 6:30 am and by the time we got in all the battery backups had ran out of juice :( Not a good day.

I got a call from a friend yesterday morning that power was out at the Nationwide building on the NW side in Dublin, apparently from a lightning strike. I had to drive from Hilliard up to Polaris for a lunch meeting, and it was raining cats and dogs - 50 to 55 MPH on the highway with wipers on High was the best I could manage, little rivers of water running down the off ramps, muddy torrents at the construction at Worthington-Galena & Sancus. Some really nasty lightning too.

There was about 3/4" of rain in my rain gauge at home. But it hit here in the morning, it was over by the time I left lunch at 1:30 PM.

I've heard of reports of between 8 - 10 inches of rain here. Oh, and to top it off, there's another storm rolling in from the west that's expected to be just as bad.

yeah it got pretty bad out here last night.
Then it flash flooded today around 6pm
Brooke and I were getting ready to go to Home Depot
to get some stuff and I noticed we couldn't really get the Fusion
or Altima out of the driveway...it was that flooded. I fired
up the truck and drove through some flooded areas and we made
it back safely with our home depot junk. 6" of lift and 3' tall
tires come in handy sometimes:biggrin:

I saw some video on the new of Norwalk...be safe Brian looks
bad out there.

Yeah we got hit over here pretty hard in the Dublin area, at least for 30 mins or so. The rain and wind was pretty damn rough... knocked the power out in a few places.

They said 4 tornadoes were spotted in Lima, thats nuts.

Yeah, that storm that rolled through here last night that was supposed to be all big and bad ended up being nothing. It rained a little and made some noise. But was no where near the intensity they were predicting. Still, though, we definately could of done without the extra rain.

I don't have much to worry about since i live in an area that doesn't flood easy. It's the area of Norwalk that's located in the valley that's being affected. That valley runs all the way through the city. Hell, there were only two ways to get to the north or south sides of main street. One was Linwood bridge. Which i took a few pics of. When i walked over to it traffic was completely backed up. The other way is the bypass. Route 20 actually goes around Norwalk and it's got exits on both the north and south ends.

I'll upload all the pics i took today. However the little vid i took isn't so little after all. It's only like 5 mins long but it's about 106 megabites. Which is way too much to ask anybody to download. So anybody here know how to edit videos and make them more download friendly? I know the overall resolution could stand to be reduced. But other than that i'm not sure of what else that could be done.
