First time poster!
I've got a '99 with the manufacturer's radio. There's a button for "CD" but I don't have anything hooked up to it yet. I'm looking to do it myself for as cheap as possible, but I don't know where to begin. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You could buy mine with 3 magazines. Make an offer!
Of course, you'd still need the cable, but http://www.radiosandmore.com usually has those. Oh, and I'm still using my stock bracket (for an aftermarket changer)...so you would have to find one of those or rig something up.

What the hell is this? An advertisement???
Skater, I'm afraid your post wasn't much help. Are you saying I can have your CD changer for any three magazines of my choosing? How about three issues of Christianity Today? That's all I've got laying around here currently.
BTW, what's a stock bracket?

No. I'm saying you can buy my CD changer with three "magazines," which are the things you put your CDs into and slide into the changer (for a total of 18 discs, 6 at a time in the changer).
The bracket is the thing that mounts the changer into the car so it doesn't slide around. Changers hate moving around (though my experience has been that they're better than head units at absorbing bumps without skipping).

 Miscommunication. The CD changer holds the CDs in a removable magazine, like a cartridge. I believe Skater was indicating you could buy his CD changer that includes three CD magazines, then you'd need a cable, and the stock bracket used to mount the changer.
*edit* Oops, Skater beat me to it */edit*

Thanks for the clarification gentlemen.
Ain't my avatar cool?

Wouldn't know. I have them turned off. How is that relevant to the question?
You can also go to radiosandmore.com and order the changer, magazines, and cable you'd need from there. In fact, please do that instead. I have a feeling I'd get ripped off.

Hey...I take offense to that. I am a very reputable businessman. And you're the one who brought it up in the first place! I'll check out the site.
As far as the avatars...you have one and yet you turn them off? Seems a little hypocritical if you ask me.

1. First, I don't really feel like going to the trouble of selling it. The hassle of selling and shipping it just isn't worth the money I'd get out of it.
Second, the way you reacted to my initial message implies that if something did go awry during your installation, you would immediately fly off the handle and start making accusations, instead of asking for help. As evidence of that, I point out that you actually went so far as to curse at me (in spite of the "Christianity Today" magazines you have laying around) when you didn't understand what I wrote.
I don't intend any offense. You may be the most honest businessman ever, I really don't know. But for the reasons I listed above, I've decided I'm simply not interested in selling the unit at this point in time.
2. I really don't care if it is hypocritical. If people didn't want to see my 3,826-byte (probably the smallest one on all of the internet) avatar, they can turn avatars off as well. My avatar is smaller than required in both dimensions and file size, unassuming, and very cool for people who understand the reference. However, I just turned the option off a day or two ago, because of a certain avatar that several people were (are?) using that I found highly annoying and distracting. Instead of complaining, I simply turned them off.

Skater...CHILL OUT DUDE! The advertisement comment was meant for an advertisement that appeared in between post #2 and #3. After closer inspection of the ad, it states:
Want to make these ads disappear? Become a "Gold Member" and it will!
It then occurred to me that you might be a "Gold Member" (Huh-huh huh-huh) and thus, unable to see the ad. So take it easy my friend.
As for the "hell" comment. Christians can say "hell". Jesus talked about hell loads in the Bible. If you're implying that because I say "hell" I'm not a Christian, well, that's just incorrect.
Sorry for the misunderstanding. I do appreciate that you were the only one who responded to my question. Link Man did too, but he was too late.

Ah, okay - I thought you were cursing me while I was trying to help you - something I absolutely hate. :) I'm sorry about that.
Anyway, I don't really want to get into a religious debate. No good can come of that. :)

Actually crutchfield.com. I buy pretty much all my audio stuff there. My experience has been that their prices are right in line with most other places when you consider that you get the installation and wiring kits for free when you buy the head unit from Crutchfield. Of course, if you don't mind not having warranties, you can always get the stuff cheaper from non-authorized sellers.
They do sell CD changers (USA Spec brand or something like that) that will work with the stock radio but I strongly recommend against them. They're similar to what I put in the Impala, and you can read about all the headaches with mine here. (http://rjmarq.org/impala/cd_changer.html) Keep in mind you're not buying a name brand CD changer - Pioneer, Kenwood, Alpine, and plenty of others are good names for a reason.
Ugh. I paid $350 for that changer, and I stopped using it over a year ago, and I haven't missed it one bit. I want to take it out and smash it like they did with the printer in "Office Space." My plan for that car is to buy a new Kenwood head unit/changer/Sirius tuner and just redo the whole thing the right way.
