i know that the plan is to meet up in columbus then go to fest, but i got a couple questions about that. is the plan to head straight to indy from there? where and what time r we meeting/heading out? also, if there's some cinci people who r heading to c-bus let me know and we can meet up somewhere down here then head up as a mini-caravan.

Well, it seems that a lot of people are leaving at all different times. But normally the Columbus departure happens at about 3pm from Columbus' west side. So people should start posting their departure plans, so we can begin the caravan planning.

That's my 2 cents - I'm thinking of leaving at about 3 on Thursday, but I am flexible. Waiting for more input.

Even though I'm not going you cinci/dayton area peeps can meet up at my appt before heading to cbus if you need to. It's right inbetween 675, 35, 75, and only a few miles from 70. I'm off the Woodman Exit of 35, which is the last Eastbound exit before 675.

I'm planning on rollin' with everyone else in the caravan. So as Andy said, 3PM on Thursday is good for me :)

if everyone who will be in the caravaan wants, I can ship your shirts to one person... who can then hand them out when you all meet up... :)

just to make sure you ALL get them on time. (takes 5-8 days to arrive)

i'll need names ASAP though...
and good news is you can all split the shipping, so it wont be much.

For the past 2 years we have met in the parking lot in front of Wal-Mart at the intersection of I-70 and Hilliard-Rome Road, at Westpointe Plaza in West Columbus. The plan, as of now, is to meet there starting at around 3pm on Thursday the 6th, and roll out at around 3:30.

It is a good idea to invest in an FRS 2-way radio to communicate with the pack, and keep tabs on the Fest news (all Cougarfest announcements are broadcasted over FRS for everyone staying at the hotel).

If anyone has questions, feel free to ask here or PM me. See you in 10 days!

Allright, I managed to find a list of supplies that were kickin' around from one of the older CFs:

Car Detailing Stuff - ALL OF IT (Make sure you bring a bucket, apparently people often forgot those)

Folding/Camp Chairs
FRS Radios (I'm assuming that as long as they are FRS they will work?)
Some photos I saw show peeps writing their NECO names on the parking lot with sidewalk chalk
BATTERIES in copious quantities...heh

Everything else people should be able to figure out, ya know..clothes, swim suit, etcetera.

Most people yes, I brought everything once and didn't use it. I've only needed copious amounts of Quik Detailer, tire shine, a smidgen of Trim Detailer, and some diluted Simple Green (just in case). But tons of towels/rags! I just use the wand at the car wash to clean after the drive.
Folding/Camp Chairs
Yeah, so you'll have something to sit on during the show in the parking lot, or if you go to any of the off-site track events.
FRS Radios (I'm assuming that as long as they are FRS they will work?)
Yep! If it's FRS it'll work. We pick a caravan channel before leaving, and once you arrive, use the channels that are listed in the CougarFest forum.

Batteries for the FRS, and your camera, the charger for your cell phone. Cash for beverages, and extra cash in case you find something for sale (no shipping!).

If you have a laptop, bring it, along with a CAT 5 cable; the rooms all have free broadband access, and Ov3n or Atomicinternet usually sets up a wireless network for NECO.

Actually, Brian, I was thinking "cash for a good single malt whisky" but didn't want to seem snooty

And I'm going to try to bring the laptop too, though it's so old I usually only use it to offload and backup the camera's flash card.

I'll be bringing my laptop, and possibly my PDA for work (just for the 1GB SD card). My laptops a little aged, but the real pain is the fact that I can't use it without it being plugged in.

For those of us who have never actually participated in a show, what information should be included on a "Car Show Info Sheet"?

There will be questions on the sheet to help you fill it out. It's mostly questions like year, make, model, miles, mods, etc.

From this I take it we will be getting them at the show?

Dude, I don't know  I would need to get a harness and an amp, and right now I'm not too keen on spending on the 'Tour until it's actually running.

Ha! Me too. It's an ancient Toshiba (built like a tank, Toshiba  ) that I was allowed to keep from a previous job, PII 333 but it works fine for e-mail and surfing, and backing up the camera. Battery is long past dead, so must be plugged in to work. High speed net access at the hotel though :)

Two PDAs for me, my everyday one and the one I use for the OBD-II

There is a sheet they give you to fill out that you put on the dash for judging at the show, but if you wanted you can make up something with more presentation just as an FYI for people looking at the car.
