How much do you think it would cost to make my 2000 cougar into manual from automatic?

16 billion dollars. Unless you search, then it will cost much less
Seriously, click the search button and type it in. It's been covered A LOT.
Also, visit www.teamneco.com and click 'forums'. Go into the DIY/How To section and there is a post that oulines the entire parts list you need to do the swap. If you look in the for sale section here a member named Massiv had everything need to do the swap for sale as a package. You'll just have to check and see if it is still available.
Plan on spending a couple thousand I'd imagine. You need the transmission, subframe, clutch kit, ECU, and lots of other goodies.
Good luck.

Yeah...pretty much the general opinion is that unless you really like your car, you are better off just trading it in for a manual.
If you find a great deal on all the parts and can do the swap yourself, go for it.

More than you can afford pal . . . MTX-75 . . .
Kidding. Wade is correct though, its just not worth it to do the swap considering the worth of the car.

I did mine for around 2,000-2,300 w/ svt flywheel, spec clutch, poly mount and gutting precats, and sway bay bushings. I had it posted somewhere, but I can't remember now. But I still need a few things for it to be "complete". Like a shift boot, and MTX wire harness. I just did mine because I blew my ATX. and It would have cost about the same to have someone else install a new atx, So I said f-it, I'll do a swap myself. 4-6 months and 2 bad mtxs later, I have a 5-speed that works.
oh yeah I also had the computer re-tuned by brenspeed for $300-$400. So It goes even faster.
But yeah, I would have just traded it in for another stock mtx coug, if I wasn't 2000 over the worth of the car.
