sounds like your struts may be trashed push down on
your car and then let up does it keep bouncing for a sec?
Mine are that bad and it feels like the same thing I'm doing
struts pretty soon here.

My struts aren't great; but my front mounts are TRASHED. New Bilsteins in my future as well.
It is really easy to spend too much money on these effin' cars. I've never done the math for myself, or I'd probably get rid of it...

Yes the cougar is not cheap, that is why one of my two cougars have to go. I have baught about 90% of my parts from NECO members, and I figure I can sell them back for atleast half or what I orginally paid so in the end it won't be that bad.

Oh they are definately trashed. My car does bounce, and when I push down on the back they creek, when I sit in the car they creek, when I hit small bumps it feels like I might lose control. When I brake now my steering wheel shakes, I just replaced the tie-rods and had it alligned, so Im hoping its something to do with the suspension.
Also, another odd thing is, I noticed that if Im in gear and I turn while giving it gas, you can feel something hitting the car through the stick, an through the bottom of the floor. It could just be my exhaust, but that thing should be mounted pretty solidly. Who knows....

Yeah man, I know the feeling! I have added it all up, and it's a scary huge number :( Now if I could just actually get it installed on the car!

Ok, thats fine then. Not worried about that too much. Of course my dad and I will fabricate something to prevent that.

When I brake now my steering wheel shakes,...
Check your rotors?
B3NN3TT
06-19-2006, 03:12 PM
Yeah your rotors have baked-on pad material. There's not much short of replacing or turning the rotors that will fix that, I'm afraid.
Mine do that too, a little. It's caused by your braking habits.
Rule of thumb, the less time your foot's on that pedal, the better off you are. Same with your clutch.

Hmm, the brakes are 3 months old, aswell as the rotors. It doesnt happen all the time.
I only use my clutch when shifting, and from the get go, when it comes time to slow down, neutral it goes.
I know first hand on spending too much too fast on the cougar. From transmission to brakes, to suspension, to exhaust system, to starter to alternater to starting when she felt like it... you name it the cougar busted it. She broke so often that I never got my kit installed or it repainted or my custom trunk layout finished. I just couldnt keep up. My ultimate sake of forgiveness on the wallet was to sell her. Let her be someone elses problem 10days to the day after the it being sold the 3rd owner wrecked her.... so in a sick little since, problem(s) fixed.
I feel evil for saying that.

^^
Yeah, that is kinda rough to say. That was apart of your life that ended, and apart of their life that now probably seems wasted.
I always like to make people happy and such, so I guess working on her brings me closer to making her happy. When I got her, she had issues, I want to make her new again and feel proud for something I've done. I really do already! Its only expected that the suspension would go, its got 127k now.

The rotors can be 3 days old and be screwed if you didn't break them in and you have bad braking habits. Andy had a great site that informed me of the error of my ways, perhaps he could share that link again as I have it bookmarked on another computer.

Yeah, you're right - read this article (http://stoptech.com/tech_info/wp_bedintheory.shtml) about bedding in fresh rotors or pads. And see this article (http://stoptech.com/tech_info/wp_warped_brakedisk.shtml) to explain what's happening with your brakes right now.
