So i got in an accident over spring break and didnt get my car back till i got home, i had taken my sub box and amp out while it was at the body shop and removed the inline fuse so there would be no "fire hazard". when i got the car back i put the fuse back in and the hooked everything up the saem way n got a popping noise and now the sub will not work, the red "protect" light is on and the manual doesnt tell you crap about what that means:disgust: . ive rewired it checked the wires for an accidental ground but i still get a protect light when i turn my car on. On top of that it has started to blow the inline fue on a regualr basis, but not when i turn the car on, it will blow sometime while im driving. can anyone help?
thanks

The protect light usually comes on when there is a loose connection to chassis ground or there is a good ground and remote, but no power.

yea ive checked the fuses, wierd thing is when i hook it up i unplug the battery for saftey. once everything is set up, all doors are closed, everything is off, keys in hand, i put the neg battery terminal back on and it immediatly blows a fuse. Never had that before and im stumped, if it doesnt blow a fuse immediatly i will within 30mins or so for no reason.

you ran a new power cable as well?

sounds like power wire is gounding out somewhere...possibly at firewall if it was a front end crunch...i have also had the power wire ground out under the rear seats at the pinch point...

do you have a capacitor installed in your system? did you recharge it before connecting every thing? a discharged cap will ground out your power wire as well and blow the main fuse...

it is possible someting inside your amp has broken too, with the accident?
reason one your amp shouldnt be mounted to your box is that vibrations could loosen wires in it..accident could do the same...

I had a problem a few weeks ago where my Remote wire was grounding itself out. it was falling apart under the carpet cause it was such a thin wire. that stumped me for about a week until I just started re-wiring everything and found that. Proctection light kept coming on. could be a possibility.

yea i read ur post happy, i took all my wiring out and checked it, it is all in order, thats y i am stumped, maybe the amp could have something wrong internally but i got hit in the front(not hard) and the amp is screwed down. there are no tears or cuts in any of the wires but i think it might be the remote wire so i have a new one and will try that today.

Update: I tried a new reote wire, hooked up everything and tested it all for cotinuity(sp). the amp turns on for .5secs then instantly goes from the green powere light to the red protection light, all the fuses are correct, they fuses rnt blowing, the amp stays off till the car gets turned on and the CD player comes on, i am officaly stumped, it has a good grounp, the rcs's are working the remote wire is doing its job and there is power getting to it.
