Lower Rear Cross Floor Bar
The cross floor bar kit will reduce the body flexes that occurs during cornering. It creates a reinforcement between each side of the chassis. The bar is mounted on the floor between the front and rear seats. The cross floor bar kit will maintain a stiffer center of gravity and a locking motion in your chassis. The overall suspension and handling will increase by 15%.

if I'm not mistaken, crispy installed this a year or 2 back, and she was very happy with it.
so tronic, do we have a choice of colors? because I gotta say red would be a no-go for me.
tr0nic
06-14-2006, 06:24 PM
As of right now, there is no color choice but red. It is very easy to scuff and paint if you so-choose...
Crispy did have this installed and she loved it... at least that is what i'm getting from Sami, he has been in touch with her recently.

where would these mound to? the only place i can think of is where the seatbelt sits on that bar...
tr0nic
06-14-2006, 07:50 PM
Basically you can put the bar in wherever you want... but the best place is right by that bar, with the curve in the bar going over the curve/contour of the floor behind the console.

lol, I doubt you are going to find any... we had a discussion about this a long time ago. alot of people said they were going to do this, and everyone fell through. I saw the bar hanging around in crispy's house a few months later. she said she had it installed in the car [but it couldnt have been installed long], but I havent heard or seen of it since.

IF! these are availible in black, I will buy one no questions asked, but I am too lazy at this point to paint anything.

could u attach racing harness to this?
bensenvill
06-15-2006, 10:57 AM
could u attach racing harness to this?
umm you could but it would defeat the purpose of wearing a seatbelt because that bar is not meant for that.
could u attach racing harness to this?
This would be very dangerous in any sort of crash.

Yeah I couldn't suggest using a floorbar as a harness bar.

If I were to, I dunno, pay today (novel concept for NECO, I know ;) ), when would it ship?
I wouldn't want to have to wait for a bunch of other people, especially since I need to take a bunch of stuff to the Powdercoater ASAP.

I would process the payment today, and it would ship by Monday or Tuesday (warehouse is a little backed up... i'm swamping them with orders).

I have a similar floor bar in my Cougar (well, its going back in there when I done what I'm doing), but it was great, and very happy with it...
And no...it is NOT RECOMMENDED to attach harnesses to this bar...in an accident, the pressure from the harness straps pulling down on your collar bones due to that type of mounting point, would snap the collar bones and possibly do other body damage as well...plus the way the bar mounts to the floor pan at the lower seat belt bar, it would allow the floor bar to rotate upwards, if harnesses were attached, during an accident and would not stop you from hitting the steering wheel/windshield/dash board...
my 2 cents!

Total price shipped to any of the 48 contingent states is $80.
It attaches with your standard bolts, and I also believe it can be attached using the stock mounting location of the seatbelt bracket.

wheres the pics of it installed? Im dumb
tr0nic
06-17-2006, 07:41 PM
No pics until someone actually installs it. It is very straight forward, and bolts behind the seats. It is fully adjustable so that you can mount it however/wherever you'd like in the rear footwell area.
creativecougar
06-17-2006, 09:37 PM
I like these and I would buy one, but it would make the functionality of sitting in the rear seats obsolete. You wouldn't be able to put your feet on the floor. Unfortunately, my buddies and I cram into my car quite often and this wouldn't go over well...That's the only reason I'm not getting one. Good buy though!

I feel the same way, or else I would be all over it :-(
tr0nic
06-18-2006, 11:21 AM
The bar sits almost flush with the floor and follows the contour of the floor. You'd only have a small bar to put your feet over (and if installed back far enough, it would not be in the way at all). So, don't hesitate to pick it up... as it won't impede in your passenger's comfort.

When someone gets it done, Id like to see a pic, it would help me decide.
I just cant imagine the car having that much flex right next to the floor. I have the Jaged Rear bar installed, wouldnt that take care of any flex the floor would be expiriencing?

These floor bars do virtually nothing for body stiffness, any claims to that effect are totally bunk by the manufacturer. Anyone with some engineering background, or knowledge of unibody structure could tell you that. A Cougar would benefit far more stiffness-wise from a proper rear strut bar.
If you like this bar, get it because it looks cool, not because it will turn your cougar into a race car. Just like drilled rotors.

I looked where this bar would mount up to and there are no pre-existing holes or anything....so I would have to install this with self-tapping screws or something, right?
And as for Rara, if you have a rear strut bar...i'm not sure of one of these floor bars would be needed at all, like you said. But the point is, for $80 you can't go wrong! I would be buying this just for looks anyway. I think it is worth it, and plus it matches my color scheme and I don't have a rear strut bar. So whether it improves performance or not, I think it is a great buy if you like the way it looks. And yes, please don't post comments like that on the threads...keep it to pm's.

I'll be picking one of these up in the near future, definitely. I just have a lot on my plate right now. First and foremost is the JRAK RSB and the Roush bar, followed by this.
Back seat functionality is not a problem because in about a week I wont have a back seat
I think it is worth it, and plus it matches my color scheme and I don't have a rear strut bar. So whether it improves performance or not, I think it is a great buy if you like the way it looks.
This is the key. If you like the way it looks, and it fits the style of your car, go for it.

 Why the he!! else would you be looking at this!? If you don't have a rear strut bar, then this will definately help...PLUS it'll look good. If you are not gonna buy this bar, then :gtfo:

Well as a performance driver I'd like to know whether it makes a difference, I'm glad someone stepped up and was honest. For aesthetics, that's one thing, but saying it will improve handling 15%...that's a lie. I have never heard of this type of reinforcement, and to compare it to a RSTB is quite a stretch as well. Was I interested? Yes, I want my car to be the best it can be. I'm just saying, aesthetically it would be a great addition, but as an item to provide that much handling increase...
creativecougar
06-19-2006, 11:30 AM
And I never said anything about improving handling by 15%...because I have no idea about that factor. That comment is all tr0nic's. I was just trying to help and I just said it would look good and it would help. (It can't hurt).
